Mississippi House Representative Nolan Mettetal of District 10 sent a note through Facebook about his intentions not to run for re-election.
“To the wonderful citizens of MS House District 10, thank you for your heart warming dedication, loyalty, and efforts toward my campaigns of family, friends, and community. My entire family is humbly grateful to you for your confidence, trust, and friendship that will be cherished forever. We deeply appreciate your giving me this incredible opportunity to serve and represent you in the MS Senate and House. This rewarding experience has been a phenomenal honor of my lifetime.”
He was first elected to the Mississippi Senate in 1996 and served until he ran for the House of Representatives in 2012.
His committee memberships include the Universities and Colleges Chairman; Appropriations, Banking and Financial Services; Medicaid; Public Health and Human Services; and Public Property.
Fellow representative LaTaisha Jackson, District 11, served on the University and Colleges committee with Mettetal.
“It has definitely been an honor to serve with Representative Mettetal. It was a joy personally to serve on the committee he chaired,” Jackson said.
She also said they collaborated on other projects for Panola County.
“Not only him, but Ms. Kay will be missed in the House,” Jackson added.” It will be the retirement of two as they definitely walk as one. I wish them both well in their future endeavors and appreciate his service as Senator and Representative.”
Mettetal said he is going out on his own terms and plans to spend lots more time with their grandchildren.
