William Dean Barnes, 65, formerly of Batesville, passed away  Oct. 1, 2021, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR.

Dean was the widower of Nancy W. Barnes.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.  Saturday, Oct. 9, at Wells Funeral Home followed by a graveside inurnment  at 2:30 p.m. at Forrest Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.

Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.

Dean was born March 30, 1956 to the late John Thomas Barnes, Sr. and Gladys Mae Thetford Barnes in Ypsilanti, MI. He grew up worshiping at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After retirement, Dean moved to Georgia where he was one of the valets at Augusta National Golf Club.

In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, Dean was preceded in death by two brothers, John Thomas Barnes, Jr., and Jimmy Ray Barnes.

Survivors include his daughters, Deanna Gail Barnes Rushing of Harrison, AR., Mona Peeples (Rocky) of Batesville; brothers, Larry Barnes (Beverly) of Fredricksburg, IO, Billy Barnes of LA.; grandchildren, Samamtha Leverett, John Michael Rushing; and one great grandchild, Michael Leverett, III.
