Maebelle Davis Pitcock, age 98, passed away Thursday morning, July 1, 2021, in Piperton, TN, at the home she shared with her daughter and granddaughter.
Her funeral will be at 11:30 a..m. Saturday, July 10, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Berry presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The Pitcock family will receive family and friends on Friday evening from 5to 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
Maebelle was born to Lula Bankston and James Washington Davis on Sept.r 29, 1922, in Water Valley, one of nine children. Mrs. Pitcock was a loving homemaker, servant-oriented civic leader and dedicated church volunteer over her decades in the Pope community.
Married to Cecil Pitcock (73 years), she served both as the Mayor of Pope and on the town’s election board for many years. She held numerous jobs (Batesville Hosiery Mill, Pope Cafeteria and Pitcock Meats), and she consistently supported her church families at Pope Baptist Church and Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
The family members that are left to cherish her legacy include her five children, Carey Pitcock (Ginger) of Union Grove, AL, LaJean Grannan of Piperton, TN, Jim Pitcock (Linda) of Pope, Dale Baker of Malabar, FL and Nell Lillard of Germantown, TN; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, eight siblings, husband, and three grandchildren.
