Lady Tigers take part in Ala. tourney

The South Panola Lady Tigers softball team spent their Spring Break in Gulf Shores, Ala., taking part in the Pleasure Island Showdown tournament.

The team won one of three games on the trip.

South Panola’s lone win came Saturday against Gulf Shores as they pounded out 13 hits in a 5-3 win.

Avery Seay, Tyler Hamby, Bailey Ware, Haven Dulin and Gracey Harbour recorded two hits each.

Bailey Russell, McKenzie Perkins and MaKenzi Houston all singled. Kaitlyn Tidwell walked one and struck out a batter over six innings to earn the pitching win.

South Panola (4-6-1) fell to Tipton-Rosemark, (Tenn.) 9-4 in four innings Friday. Bailey Russell provided three singles and a RBI while MaKenzi Houston tripled and scored a run.

Layla Davis, Addison Hardy and Haven Dulin scored a run. Rebekah Cook struck out five while giving up four earned runs in four innings in the pitching circle.

They also dropped a game to Cleveland (Ala.) 4-3 on Friday. No individual statistics from that game were available.
