The Panola County Election Commission will hold a session of Logic and Accuracy testing for the DS200 scanners Monday, July 29, at 9 a.m. at the Batesville Courthouse.
The commission sponsored a public demonstration of the new optical scanners Wednesday at the Courthouse.
Interested voters were able to see the machines that will be used for the primary elections upcoming in August, and become familiar with the process of marking a paper ballot and inserting it into the scanner.
Voters were able to see how a ballot marked for more than one candidate in a race, or a ballot with some races not marked, is flagged by the scanner for further consideration by a voter.
Completed ballots, once accepted by a scanner and recorded digitally, are stored in a secure portion of the voting machine, giving the Election Commission a hard copy of votes cast for verification if needed.
