Thelma Sue Collins, 62, died in an early morning fire Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. The family will hold a Memorial Service today (Jan. 11) in the chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Sue was a homemaker and loved her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Those whom she leaves behind include her four brothers James Golden, Michael Golden, William Stanley Golden and Rodney Golden all of Marks.

Sue died with her husband, Robert Collins, who also perished in the fire. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Herman and Mamie Morgan Golden; an infant son, Robert Lee Collins; a sister, Cleo Golden; and four brothers, William, Jerry, Charles and Raymond Golden.

Robert B.”Tiger” Collins, age 55, perished in a early morning fire Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held today (Jan. 11)  with the family receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service time beginning 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks.

Tiger was a farmer and had many friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers John Golden (Ruby) of Tutwiler,  and Jimmy Collins of Marks.

He was preceded in death by his wife whom also perished in the fire, Thelma Sue Collins; his parents, Robert Collins and Earnestine Todd; a step-dad,  Adam L. Golden; and two sisters, Nancy Golden and Shirley Nelson.

Geraldine Stockton Foster, 82 of Courtland, died Thursday, Jan. 10,  2019, in Canton Ohio.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be updated by Wells Funeral Home.

 

A memorial service for Nancy Ann “Sissy” Golden, age 51,  will be today (Jan. 11) at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m.

She died in an early morning house fire on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018.

Nancy was a homemaker that loved her family and grandchildren, and was  looking forward to greeting her first grand daughter later this year.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Stanley Golden of  Marks; two daughters Dana Jones of Belen, MS; Nicole Golden of  Marks; one son Richard “Ritchie” Golden of Marks; three grandchildren, two brothers John Golden (Ruby) of Tutwiler, and Jimmy Collins of Marks.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Collins and Earnestine Todd, step dad Adam L. Golden, one sister Shirley Nelson, one brother Robert Collins.

Funeral services for Shamekia Lasha Money, 24, were held Thursday (Jan. 10) at Spring Hill Asa M.B. Church in Courtland with Pastor Louis Wilson, Sr., officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Cooley’s Mortuary.

She died Jan. 5, 2019, at her home in Batesville.

She was born Feb. 5, 1994, to Victor Jones and Velma Kay Money in Memphis.

 

Rayford L. Smith, 91, passed away late Tuesday night, January 8, 2019, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. Rayford was the husband of Annie Lois Smith of Batesville. 

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12,  at Batesville First Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at noon. Interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park. Dr. Tommy Snyder and Rev. John Howell, Jr. will officiate. 

Rayford was born May 26, 1927, in Lambert, Mississippi, to the late Andrew Marvin Smith and Vallie Georgia Clark Smith. He graduated from Lambert High School. Rayford married Annie Lois Moreland in March of 1956. He kept busy working and raising a family.

Rayford farmed cotton near Sledge and was a rural mail carrier for 43 years. He also worked as a crop insurance adjuster and an agent for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). Rayford was active in his church and community.

He was a devoted member of Batesville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of Batesville Rotary Club, where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.

The loving family he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory includes his wife of 62 years, Annie Lois Moreland Smith of Batesville; children, Don Smith (Janita) of Cleveland, Tim Smith (Vivian) of Southaven, Anita Smith Edlin of Batesville, Keith Smith of Southaven, and Paul Smith (Suzanne) of Brandon; 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rayford is preceded in death by his sisters, Artie Lodear Smith (who died as an infant), Lola Clytie Smith Bennett, Ruby Ilene Smith Linskey, Grace Truman Smith Crocker; and his brother, Raymond Henry Smith.

 

Funeral services for Bobby Lee Rowland, 59, will be held today (Jan. 11) at 2 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery in Batesville.

He died Jan. 9, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Mr. Rowland was born Jan. 1, 1959, to the late Dorothy Jean Jones Rowland and Daniel Rowland in Marks. He was a carpenter by trade.

He is survived by his wife Connie Vanlandingham Rowland, his parents Daniel and Bessie Rowland, and three children.

 

Lance Shipley, 34, died Jan. 5, 2019, at Baptist memorial Hospital in Oxford. His family will hold a memorial service at a time to be announced by Well Funeral Home.

He was born born May 23, 1984, to Scott Michael Shipley and Jo Elna Skaggs Shipley in Sacramento, Calif. He worked for ACI Building Systems in Batesville and Oxford Bowling Alley.

He is survived by his wife and three children. Another child is expected in February.
