Soccer suffers four shutouts

The South Panola varsity soccer teams resumed their season following the Christmas holidays with a pair of home matches Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers hosted Strayhorn on a misty, cold Friday night with Mustangs prevailing in both matches as the Strayhorn girls winning 10-0 while the boys edged the home team 1-0 in the nightcap.

South Panola returned to the pitch Saturday where they were swept by Lafayette Co. 12-0 in the girls tilt and 5-0 in the boys matchup. Lady Tiger goalie Abby Close stopped nine shots on goal.

The Tigers open up a four-game road trip today as they travel to Oxford before visiting Tupelo Thursday in district matches. South Panola soccer returns home Jan.17 against Tupelo at 5 and 7 p.m
