Gerald Belvin

OXFORD–Gerald Leverne Belvin, 75, died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The funeral service was held March 11 at Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Sherman officiating. Burial was in Eastover Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Sumter, S.C., to the late Duncan Lewis and Gertrude Cotton Belvin, Mr. Belvin was retired from the United States Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans and volunteered at the State Veteran’s Home.

BATESVILLE–Mrs. Elsie Lorene Kendall, 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Southaven.
Mrs. Kendall was born on March 4, 1943, in Yalobusha County, to the late Ruby Gross McCullar and Earl McCullar. She was a long-time member of the Batesville Church of Christ.
Remembered as a kind and loving mother, sister, and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She leaves behind her loving family including her sons, Randy Kendall (Sandra) of Southaven,  and Ricky Kendall of Bartlett, Tenn.; two sisters, Louise Smith of Batesville,  and Peggy Guest of Winona; seven grandchildren, Preston Wade Kendall, Brady Alden Kendall, Grayson Samuel Kendall, Wesley Boone Kendall, Reid Nathaniel Kendall, Kevin Clay Franklin, and Shannon Glenn Franklin; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Annie Hughes; and three brothers, Jacob Lamar McCullar, Jerry Martin McCullar, and D.L. McCullar.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 12 at  Dickins Funeral Home with Michael Bates officiating. Interment was in Lovejoy Cemetery in Courtland.
