Sheriff’s Report: Resident wakes to a gun in his face

On February 13 Deputy Steven McLarty was called to an armed robbery and kidnapping on Windover Drive, Batesville where a couple reported a man in a gold single cab Dodge truck held them at gun-point in their own home.
According to the report, one resident reported awakening to the suspect standing over him with a black revolver.
“Babe he has a gun on me” the resident stated as the suspect forced him upstairs with his girlfriend.
The resident reported the suspect pulled down the curtains and used them to tie his girlfriend’s and his hands and feet together.
“Where’s the money at? This is what I get paid to do! Where is the money and guns,” the suspect stated.
According to the report, the suspect stole a 12 gauge Smith and Wesson shotgun, a Marlin Rifle, 2 LG and 1 iPhone 5s cell phones.
The resident’s girlfriend reported she was missing her ID, Social Security card, Credit One card and Merrit Bank card.
Deputy McLarty requested dispatch to “ping” the missing phones, which lead Investigators and Deputy McLarty to Crenshaw.
According to the report, Investigators patrolled the area and located a gold single cab Dodge and met with a man who admitted to the robbery, according to the report.
The suspect was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and home invasion.
Investigator Bryan Arnold was conducting a forensic interview on a seven-year-old when she reported her mother’s boyfriend, a 25-year-old, had sexual intercourse with her on at least one occasion.
According to the report, the incident occurred sometime in August of 2016. On February 10, the suspect was questioned, arrested and charged with statutory rape.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received 25 reports from Panola County residents requesting service from Sheriff Deputies from February 9 to February 17.
February 9
• Deputy George Renfroe responded to a family disturbance on Highway 51 where the resident reported she and her live-in boyfriend got into a disagreement over living arangements.
According to the report, the boyfriend decided to leave the residence.
February 10
• Investigator Terry Smith spoke to an employee at North Delta School who reported a burglary where $1,000 and food was stolen from the school.
According to the report, the individual noticed a broken window and upon entering the school noticed several broken doors, windows and open soda machines.
Initial investigation revealed the suspects entered through the busted window and busted out windows to offices and went through cabinets and desks looking for money.
The schools camera system showed two males entering wearing masks and gloves and proceed through the school causing the damage and searching for items to steal. There are no known suspects at this time.
• Greenhill Circle resident reported to Deputy Darryl House she was threatened by her ex-boyfriend who threatened her life.
February 11
• Hentz Road, Pope resident reported to Deputy Josh Griffin her son noticed multiple items missing from her shop.
According to the report, the resident stated she was missing a funeral flag, safe, box of antique books, craftsman tools, luggage, extention cords, christmas decorations, portable sirrus card, chain, five jacks, hunthouse on wheels, four-wheeler tires and a truck wench.
• Pope Water Valley Road resident reported to Deputy Bill Furniss she was receiving threatening phone calls from her ex-boyfriend.
According to the report, the resident was at home and heard her dogs barking, then heard the suspect tell the dogs to be quiet. The resident advised she wanted to press charges.
According to the report, the suspect called the resident five times while in the presence of Deputy Furniss. The resident answered one of the calls to prove the identiy of the caller was the suspect.
February 12
• Deputy John Still spoke to a Fire Tower Road, Crenshaw resident who reported missing a 4K 55” flat screen TV and a Samsung 65” TV.
• Deputy House responded to Big Rock Church where a break-in was reported.
According to the report, the suspect removed an air conditioner unit out of the window and entered the church, then kicked the Pastor’s door open. Nothing was missing from the church.
• Shiloh Road resident reported to Lietenant Chuck Tucker someone stole her child’s Play Station 3.
• Holston Road, Sardis resident reported to Deputy House an individual stole approximately $783 worth of property from his residence.
• Deputy Maurice Market responded to Henderson Road for a simple assault. Upon arrival, the resident stated her ex-boyfriend hit her in the face after he refused to leave and then took her iPhone and car keys.
February 13
• Investigator Smith received a report from an individual stating a former employee had his .38 Smith and Wesson pistol, a computer Jet Pack, phone and also owed him $2,500.
Investigator Smith spoke with the former employee who returned the pistol and jet pack, but stated the individual hadn’t paid her in months and she was keeping the phone.
Both individuals were advised the case was a civil matter and they could go to civil court on the money and other items.
February 14
• Deputy McLarty responded to River of Life Church where an individual reported the door was open when he arrived to the church and upon entering the church noticed a broken window.
According to the report, an Archder Bass Guitar, Pevee AMP and a 32” Vizio TV was missing.
• Deputy McLarty spoke to an Oxford resident who reported she was moving to Oxford from Barnacre Road and continued to state her cable box was missing from her previous residence on Barnacre Road.
• Captain Willie Harris responded to a vehicle fire on Little Road.
According to the report, an individual stated she drove the car down their driveway to check the mail and on the way back the car went dead and began smoking under the hood, trapping her inside with the smoke.
The individual stated another subject arrived and got her out of the vehicle before calling 911.
• Atkins Street, Sardis resident reported she was being stalked.
According to the report, the suspect rolled her window down in traffic to speak to the resident but the resident kept driving.
The resident stated the suspect followed her and began flashing her lights trying to get her to stop her vehicle.
February 15
• Deputy Jeremy Hailey spoke to a Shiloh Road, Courtland resident who reported her .380 semi-automatic handgun was missing from her vehicle.
February 16
• Deputy Mark Allen responded to Cole’s Point Grocery where employees realized someone attempted to use a counterfeit $5 bill.
According to the report, an employee was checking out a customer who handed over the counterfeit money and noticing something “off” about the bill she marked it and the bill turned black on both sides confirming her suspicions of it being fake.
The employee stated she advised the customer she would have to notify the authorities and the customer left in a hurry after stating he couldn’t get into any more trouble.
February 17
• Deputy McLarty spoke to an individual who reported he was delivering beer to JR Grocery on Bill Wallace Road and found three cases of beer missing.
According to the report, two cases were located across the road and another individual advised that two men walked away with one case.
• Dummyline Road resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford he loaned his 16’ trailer to the suspect who will not return his calls or the trailer.
• Fulmer Road, Como resident reported to Deputy Crawford he has been reaceiving threatening messages.

• February 14, car lost control and hit a ditch on Pope Water Valley Road.

• February 13, Juvenile was caught in possession of county property on Windover Drive.
• February 14, 15-year-old got into trouble regarding a child’s welfare on Ruby Road.
