Coach confident ND Lady Wave can win

The North Delta fastpitch team finds themselves in a familiar place this weekend as they prepare for the State Championship Tournament in Brandon.
The games start Saturday and will end on Monday to determine which two teams play in the championship series next week. The Lady Waves first game is against Adams County Christian School at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
Lady Green Wave head coach Damon Plummer is confident heading in after playing the North Half tournament last weekend.
“We play in a bracket that is just as good as if we had won it. Leake Academy is the number one seed and we should have beaten them if it were not for a few dropped balls. We also had bases loaded two or three times but just could not get them in. The game went to extra innings. We can win it. I am pretty confident against Adams County. They are the number two team from the South, but they have a smaller district.”
The outcome of this tournament will depend on the number of errors.
“In practice this week, we are trying to knock down the number of errors,” Plummer said. “We need to make sure we know the simple fundamentals. We have been hitting well and pitching well, but we have to decrease the errors. That is where our games are won or lost.”
Plummer said the pitching is doing well. That is due to the arm of Sarah Johnson who he says has the stamina to pitch every game this weekend.
In conclusion, Plummer said, ”We really do have a good team. They are young and we have to get them to step up. If they do that, we can win it. We have been hitting great and great pitching. It just depends on if they can handle the pressure with errors. “
If they do lose Saturday, they drop down to the losers’ bracket, but Plummer is confident in that scenario as well. They have beaten or should have beaten (Leake) all of the North Half teams.  The losers’ bracket would have only one extra game played by North Delta, but the team in the State Championship series from the Winners’ bracket gets home field advantage.
Whichever route the Green Wave take, they head into this weekend confident knowing that they will have a good chance of beating any team they face.
