Two Batesville fishermen were selected as the Magnolia Crappie Club’s Anglers of the Year during the weekend state championship tournament fished on Enid and Sardis Lakes.
Though Jeremy Aldridge and Clint Egbert won no tournaments on the 2015 schedule, “they were consistently in the top five all year long,” Magnolia Crappie Club Vice President Bernard Williams said.
Their selection followed having been selected as “Rookies of the Year” during the 2014 fishing season, when they won two of the club’s tournaments.
“They are super-great fishermen and super-nice guys,” Williams said. Aldridge has been selected to serve on the board of directors of the 25-year-old club, the nation’s oldest, according to its web site, www.magnoliacrappieclub.com.
Williams said that the club appreciates the support of the City of Batesville for its hosting the two-day event and holding the weigh-in Saturday at the Batesville Civic Center.
Aldridge and Egbert weighed in the heaviest seven fish allowed for consideration following Friday’s fishing at Enid, but their luck did not hold during Saturday’s fishing on Sardis Lake.
