Tea Party: collective voice for average voter

Sid Salter’s April 24th column on the Tea Party failed to emphasize the role civic groups like the Tea Party play in giving the people a voice in local and state government affairs.

We individually can call  or write our elected officials and we can speak collectively through groups like the Tea Party. As the recent Immigration Bill debacle proves, the legislators listen to the groups with the loudest voice and always to the large campaign contributors.

At election time, remember who listened to the voice of the people and who obeyed the dictates of the special interests.
