Judge fines shoplifter $1,124

Batesville Municipal Judge Bill McKenzie dismissed a charge of domestic violence which had been filed against Xavier Hooks, 219 Noble, Batesville, after the affiant, Vanessa Griffin, failed to appear to prosecute at Wednesday’s court session..

Shelia K. Smith, 201 Atkins, Sardis, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart. She was fined $1,124.

Shawanda Parker, 114 Tubbs No. 41, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting. A trial was set for January 7.

Andre D. Hudson, 3367 Benson Rd., Pope, entered the city’s work program for 20 days in lieu of paying fines of $1,124 for shoplifting.

Adam Lester, 318 Greenhill Circle, Sardis, entered the city’s work release program for 21 days in lieu of paying $1,203 that have been due since August 2011.

Michael Black, 6715 Charlie Pride, Darling, had old fines of $740 that have been due since September 2010. He was told to have his fines paid in full.

Veronica Heffner, 306 Percyville, Sardis, paid her old fines of $458 that have been due since November 2010 in full prior to court.

Latasha L. Thomas, 3671 Bethlehem Rd., Batesville, was fined $295 for no driver’s license.

Timothy J. Kirk, 489 Rockhill Rd., Sardis, was fined $370 for driving while license suspended.

Alicia H. Cox, 194-A Fogg Rd., Batesville, was fined $383 for possession of marijuana.
