Fred Alexander Bell

SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. – Fred Alexander Bell, 76,  formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, August 13, 2011.

Services were August 18 at New Zion Baptist Church in Beloit, Wis. Rev. James Ivy officiated. Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home had charge.

Bell, born Feb. 10, 1935, in Batesville to the late Isaac and Emily Brazzel Bell, worked at Mark Foundry in South Beloit, retiring in 2000. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Beloit, Wis.

Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Juliet Bell of South Beloit; one daughter, Katrina Bell; three sons, Kenny and his wife, Lauri Bell, Kirk Bell, Kerry and his wife, Rene Bell, all of Beloit; one sister, Marsha Davis of Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Dennis and his wife, Eddie Bell of Courtland; six sisters-in-law, Edith and her husband, Bobby Morgan, Betty and her husband, Albert Pinson and Christina Hughes, all of Beloit, Wis.; and Norma and her husband Allen Golden of South Beloit, Wilma Ranson of Milwaukee, and Sammie Hughes of Batesville; three brothers-in-law, Ervin Hughes of Houston, Marvin Hughes of Indiana, Hubert Hughes of South Beloit; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Sellers Jones

PLEASANT GROVE – Dorothy Sellers Jones, 82, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Desoto Hospital in Southaven.

Services were Sunday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Sardis. Rev. Kenny White officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Jones, born May 2, 1929, in Crenshaw, to Vester Miles and Alice Valeria Lewis Sellers, was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was retired from Outboard Marine Corporation in Sardis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Raymond Jones.

Survivors include: her sister, Clair Sellers Hooper of Olive Branch; one brother, Clyde Sellers of Crenshaw; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family asks that memorials be sent to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or Church Cemetery, Hwy. 315 West, Sardis, 38666.

Raymond R. Miller

OAKLAND – Raymond R. Miller, 69, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.

Services were held Saturday, August 13, at Enid Lake Baptist Church. Rev. Lester Tankersley officiated. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Miller, born Feb. 14, 1942, to Leroy Percy and Linda Virginia Martin Miller, in Randolph, was a truck driver for Graeber Brothers for 32 years and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Enid Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Irma Kay Smith Miller; one daughter, Donna Lynn Miller Willard of Clarksdale; two sisters, Reba Miller Biehslick of Fulton, Ky. and Doris Miller Bayless of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Ralph Miller of Batesville, Ark., Billy Miller of Coyners, Ga.; one granddaughter, Misty L. Bright of West Helena, Ark.; one grandson, Dylan Willard of Clarksdale and one great-granddaughter, Jadyn Bright of West Helena, Ark.

Maxine McGehee Saripkin

SENATOBIA–Maxine McGehee Saripkin, 77, died August 20, 2011, at her residence in Senatobia. She was the sister of Marie Gowen of Batesville.

Services will be private at the family’s request. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors along with her sister include: one daughter, Pat Roberson Ernest of Senatobia; two sisters, Lorene McLellan of Anderson, S.C. and Shirley Stewart of Vardaman; three brothers, Winford McGehee of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Earl McGehee of Horn Lake and Travis McGehee of Thaxton and one grandchild.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., Second Floor, Bethesda, Md., 20814 or Hebron Memorial Cemetery Fund, 7737 Old Panola Rd., Sardis, Miss. 38666.

Clara Lee Rikard Russell 

SARDIS – Clara Lee Rikard Russell, 100, died August 20, 2011, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Sardis First Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Beam, Bro. Russ Polsgrove and Bro. Hal Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held, Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Black Jack Presbyterian Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis has charge.

Russell, was born January 12, 1911 in Oxford.  She was a resident of Sardis and a member of Sardis First Baptist Church for 51 years.  She is preceded in death her husband, the late Bilbo Russell and her son, James Elton Russell.  

Survivors include: three sons, Bobby Russell, Donald Russell and Billy Russell all of Sardis; four daughters, Joyce Billingsley of Olive Branch, Birdie Polsgrove, Brenda Slayden of Madison, and Teresa Russell of Sardis; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  

Franky G. Wrenn

BATESVILLE– Franky G. Wrenn, 65, died Friday, August 19, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Wrenn, born July 29, 1946, in Batesville, to James Franklin and Nina Downs Wrenn, was a retired school custodian and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacy Arlene Wrenn.

Survivors include: his wife, Judy Arlene Chiles Wrenn of Batesville; one daughter, Shawn Marie Wrenn Caldwell of Hernando; one son, Franky Lee Wrenn of La Port, Texas; three sisters, Linda Mae Wrenn Tutor of Tunica, Della Susan Wrenn Milbank of Westland, Mich. and Connie Lee Wrenn Guess of Ecru; three brothers, James Steven Wrenn, Terry Robert Wrenn and Arthur Joseph Wrenn, all of Tunica and 10 grandchildren.
