The young grandson of a Batesville couple will appear on NBC’s Today Show next week in connection with an upcoming National Geographic Channel documentary on “Pint-sized Preachers.”

Kanon Tipton, son of Damon and Kandi Tipton of Grenada and grandson of Steve and Rita Canon of Batesville, has received wide-spread recognition as the result of  videos posted on the Internet. Kanon, now 4, began “preaching” at age 21 months, following in the footsteps of his dad and both grandfathers, who are all Pentecostal preachers.

Kanon captured the attention of National Geographic filmmakers who spent several days with the family. Kanon is one of three children featured in the documentary, which will be broadcast on the National Geographic Channel on Wednesday, August 17, at 9 p.m.

Kanon and his family are flying to New York on Monday to appear Tuesday morning on the Today Show.
