Covenant Bank is located near Harry B’s at 1130 Highway 6 East.

Thieves gained entry into the bank and attempted to rob the night depository from inside the building, said Detective Tommy Crutcher.

It was unknown if any money is missing.

“An inventory is under way,” he said.

Crutcher said he could not disclose how the thieves gained entry due to the investigation.

The thieves fled when an alarm was triggered at 3:53 a.m. according to Crutcher.

The alarm company then contacted the police department and the first officer was on the scene at 3:56, said the detective.

Lt. Kerry Pittman arrived first at the bank but did not see the suspects, Crutcher said.
