Ellis adds 10 medals to collection

Senior Olympics Hall of Famer Ken Ellis of Batesville continues to add to his impressive number of medals.

Ellis attended the 2011 Senior Olympics at Mississippi College in Clinton this past weekendwhere he won nine gold medals and one bronze out of the 10 events in which he participated.

Gold medal events were: discus, 91’6”; shot put, 30’9”; hammer throw, 65’; long jump 10’10”; high jump, 3’10”; pole vault, 6’6”; triple jump, 22’10”; 100 meter dash, 17.48 seconds; and 200 meter dash, 37.84 seconds.

The bronze was attained in the javelin for a throw of 68’.

Ellis continues to workout and prepare for the 2011 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 police and fire games in Manhattan in September. So far 9,500 people have registered to participate in that event, according to Ellis.
