Batesville Tigers Football

Batesville Tigers Youth Football (formerly Batesville Steelers) spring practice will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning March 29 from 5 p.m. until at the South Panola football field.

Mississippi Bulldogs Football

The Mississippi Bulldogs Football team of Pope will have early registration for its fall football teams.

This year Pope will expand to three age groups, 7-8 year-old; 9-10-year-old and 11-12-year-old.

They will not go through spring practice due to youth baseball practice around the county.

City League sign-up

City of Batesville Parks and Recreation baseball sign-up for boys 13-15 will be Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sign-up fee is $30.

Sign-up will be at American Legion Park. A $25 late fee will be assessed.

Coaches are needed. Those who would like to coach a team, let Robert Lightsey know on sign-up day.

Softball

City league sign-up for independent and church men and women softball leagues will be held Tuesday, March 29 at the Intermediate gym at 7 p.m.

A $100 sign-up fee is required.

Sardis Aprilfest 5K

Sardis 5K
The Sardis Aprilfest 5K run through downtown Sardis will be sponsored on April 2 by the Sardis Chamber of Commerce and the Heflin House Museum. The event is being held in conjunction with the town’s third annual Open Car Show.

Runners will have D-tag timing, age group medals, and a trophy to the first place female and male runners. Every pre-registered runner/walker receives a gift bag.

Interest sought in adult basketball league

Bobby “Six-9” Bradford is looking to start a couple of basketball leagues in the city. He is looking to start an over 39 male league and a female league of all ages.

The teams will play teams from other towns. There is no entry fee. Athletes of all races may participate.

He is also looking for men and women to help him lead this project.
