Grady Gerald Beard Sr.

POPE– Grady “Hot”  Gerald, Beard Sr., 79, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Wells Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Tankersley officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Grady, born April 20,  1931, in Pope, to Arthur Floyd and Jessie Christine Daugherty Beard, was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope. He served in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of The Corner Grocery for 28 years. He was a long successful farmer and worked as a machinist at the Hosiery Mill in Batesville.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette True; one brother, Afton Beard and step-granddaughter, Jerri Lynn Dover Tutor.

Survivors include: his wife, Norma Jean Bonner Beard of Pope; one daughter, Barbara Joyce Beard of Temple, Texas; two sons, Grady Gerald Beard Jr. of Pope and Gerald Wayne Beard of Pope; two step-sons, Jerry Dover of Pope and Tommy King of Sarah; one sister, Sandra Martindale of Pope; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be sent to American Cancer Society.

Emma Fletcher

SARDIS– Emma Fletcher, 61, died Friday, February 4, 2011.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rose Chapel in Crenshaw. Burial will be in Harmonia Cemetery in Sardis. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd and sons, Michael Haygood and Mark Haygood.

Survivors include: sons, Wayne Haygood and Cedrick H. Fletcher; sisters, Daurrius Robinson and Lillian Leona Griffin; brothers, Eddie L. Fondren, George Green, Willie Ernest Green and Adolph Green Jr. and two grandchildren.

Charles Ralph Geriner

SARDIS– Charles Ralph Geriner, 75, formerly of Southaven, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at his daughter’s home.

Services will be held Sunday at his daughter, Cynthia White’s home, 4120 Pinehurst Blvd., Southaven, at 2 p.m. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando has charge.

Geriner, was a Baptist and a former business owner “Ralph Geriner Plumbing.”

Survivors include: his  wife, Linda T. Geriner of Sardis; four daughters, Susan Stallings and Melinda McGehee, both of Hernando, Cynthia White of Southaven and Barbara Rogers of Sardis; one son, Charles Matthew Geriner; one brother, William R. Gurner of Roy, Wash. and 16  grandchildren.
