Power outage

A spokesman for Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association at late morning was unable to say when power would remain restored to an area on the west side of Eureka Street near Highway 6 which had been without electricity since 7 a.m.

At 11:20 a.m. the spokesman said that TVEPA had received calls from 27 customers, including the Batesville Church of Christ, that were without power. The outage was immediately preceded by a loud “boom” typical of a blown transformer. Since the beginning of the outage, customers have received intermittent power for durations ranging from several minutes to a fraction of a second.

About 12:05 p.m. power was restored for about 15 minutes before the outage resumed.
