The South Panola Tiger’s basketball teams split their last two games before the Christmas break.
On Tuesday night at Horn Lake, the Tigers defeated the Eagles 48-38. Nick Brassell led the team in scoring with 18 points.
Friday night before the home crowd, the Tigers fell to Grenada 55-38 in non league action.
The Tigers had 20 turnovers and hit 16 of 30 from the free throw line.
The first quarter was sluggish for the Tigers as they were out scored 16-4.
In the second quarter the Tigers bounced back adding 16 points but Grenada scored 17 for the 33-25 halftime lead.
Both teams struggled in the third quarter while the Tigers added five and Grenada added six. The Tigers fought hard in the fourth quarter putting up 16 points but Grenada battled hard to also earn 16 points.
Leading Tiger scorers were Mataras Bobo and Jakerion Ales with nine points each. Bobo hit five of six from the free throw line and had three rebounds. Ales scored five of eight free throws.
Brassell scored eight points and made two of three free throws. Chad Rudd added seven points, had one rebound and hit three of seven free throws. James Watson scored four points.
Jaylen Lee added three points, had five rebounds and made one of four free throws. Carlton Howard scored one point, had four rebounds and hit one of two free throws.
Grenada also had 20 turnovers for the night. The leading scorer was Julian Cooley with 14 points. Adding eleven points each were Maurice Dunlap, Bryant Randal and Rakeem Griffin.
