Cougars fell short in quest against Senatobia

The North Panola Cougars fell to Senatobia in its first district game of the year 59-56.

The Warriors took a 10-point lead at the end of the third quarter and the Cougars spent the fourth quarter trying to catch up but time ran out on them.

Senatobia led most of the game, taking a 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and leading 25-23 at halftime. All of the Warriors got in on the scoring in the third quarter to outscore North Panola 19-9.

The Cougars made a run in the fourth quarter but it was too little too late as they outscored the Warriors 24-15.

Brandon Bagwell led the Cougars in scoring with 17 points followed by Ricky Hunt with 15. Tristian Moore was the leading scoring for Senatobia with 17 points, followed by Kentrell Bowen with 12.

Other Cougar scorers include Deunte Howard, 8 points; Cameron Shorty, 7 points; Darius Loveberry, 5 points; Terrance Turman and Marque Phillips, 2 points each.

The Cougars defeated Coldwater Friday night 58-49. The Cougars led 15-4 after the first quarter and 26-10 at halftime.

Shorty led the Cougars with 23 points, followed by Hunt with 13. Other scorers include Bagwell and Loveberry, 7 points each; Howard and Phillips, 4 points each.

The Cougars will be on the road tonight to play Lewisburg in district action. Tuesday the Cougars will be back on the road to Lafayette County for more district action, following the girl’s game at 6 p.m.
