In the second race, Ward 3 incumbent Democrat Ruby Higgenbottom faces independent Margaret Porter Wilbourn.

Unofficial results will be posted online Tuesday night at Panolian.com.

In the Batesville race, Ward 4 Alderman Bobbie Jean Pounders faces Republican Eddie Nabors in the city’s final contested race of 2009.

Pounders is seeking her sixth term while Nabors is making his first run for public office.

Nabors won a two-way Republican primary to advance to the General Election.

Pounders did not draw an opponent in the Democratic primary.

In Sardis, Ward 1 Alderman Joseph “JoJo” Still faces challenger Boots Still. Still handily beat Still four years ago to keep his seat.

In Como, voters there will choose between independent Forster Ruhl and his Democrat challenger, John Walton.

Ruhl defeated Walton, then the incumbent, four years ago after a lengthy fight in circuit court.
