Two chosen for All-Star basketball game

Chosen to participate in the North/South All-Star basketball game are two players from Panola County. Jenisha “Shaq” Jackson of North Panola and Chasity Kearney of South Panola have been chosen to play on the north squad in the Saturday, July 11 game at Mississippi College in Clinton.

The low post players for their respective teams put up some impressive numbers this season.

Jackson, 6’2”, averaged 17.7 points per game, scored 208 points this season, made 88 field goals of 148 attempts for 59 percent and made 32 of 64 free throws for 50 percent on offense. On defense she had 41 blocked shots this season with 3.4 per game, had 47 offensive rebounds, 62 defensive rebounds for a total of 109, averaging 9.1 per game.

She helped lead the Lady Cougars to the District 3-3A championship for the second straight year.

Kearney, 5’11”, averaged 20.3 points per game, shooting 48 percent from field goal range and 65.2 percent free throws. On defense she averaged 8.7 rebounds per game.

Kearney helped lead the Lady Tigers to an 18-3 overall record, starting the season 14-0 and moving to No. 2 in the state.

The Lady Tigers lost in the first round of the district tournament to end their season.
