To the editor:
We have now entered the “Twilight Zone”; this nation has moved into a dangerous place. The most massive and invasive government program ever to be implemented, during a relative period of peace, has been enacted with a whimsical flair – no after thought needed. Congress has stooped, along Mr. Obama, to a level of insanity seldom ever matched in history. Today, I feel a little less secure, and unless there is a miraculous recovery within the next few years, a disaster awaits at the other end. With the stroke of a pen, we have moved ever so closer to socialism without a shot being fired. The ineptitude of the masses has triumphed. A Marxist revolution has occurred, and the ignorance of the proletariat has prevailed. Liberals rejoice! Vive la the United “Socialist” States of America.
The American Philosopher, William James, advocated a general mode of thinking called Pragmatism. Basically, the tenets of Pragmatism center around a common sense approach to truth. In essence, we should never eradicate the principles that work. Starting with the Bush bank buyout and culminating with the behemoth of public investment legislation that contains enough pork to have an endless wienie roast, we have lost sight of economic prudence and fundamental market principles. In a nutshell, public spending does not create wealth; wealth is the means by which we can generate public spending. Look, I am more than willing to debate this issue with anyone. The facts are that by 2010, over 40% of our Gross Domestic Product will be derived directly from government investment. France has a GDP where a whopping 53% of its value originates from the public sector. For all of the liberals who are blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other, France is not a model of an economic juggernaut. The employment rate of France seldom dips under 10 percent. If Secretary Clinton and President Obama have their way, we shall be adored by our jealous European cousins and loved by many poor, backwards Muslim nations around the globe. Victory to the World Community! Doesn’t that give you a warm and fuzzy feeling?
Well, if this is your conception of an ideal world, then our fate is already sealed. All that is left is to manage the collapse of the once most robust and viable nation the world has ever seen. Liberals be proud – task accomplished.
Cordially,
Dr. Andrew Brasher
