John Paul Haire Sr.

NESBIT– John Paul Haire Sr., 60, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, December 29, 2008, at his residence.

Graveside services were  Wednesday at Shelby Cemetery. Father Sam Messina officiated. National Funeral Home had charge.

Haire, born May 24, 1948, to Kathleen Wearing Haire of Batesville and the late William Calvin Haire Sr., was Catholic and graduated from Northwest Jr. College and the University of Mississippi. He was the owner of Quitman Drugs in Marks, Haire Drug Center in Clarksdale and Shelby Drug Company.

Survivors along with his mother include: his wife, Joyce B. Haire of Nesbit; four daughters, Kim Finney of Nesbit, Margaret Swartzfater of Shelby, Emily Haire of Oxford, Betsy Haire of Nashville and Mary Grace Haire of Gulfport; two sons, Paul Haire of Clarksdale and Jason McClellan of Madison; one sister, Mary Pauline Rodrique of Senatobia; three brothers, Billy Haire, Joe Haire and Don Haire, all of Batesville; one brother, Tim Haire of Cleveland and nine grandchildren, Landon Finney, Hunter Finney, Trey Haire, Austin Haire, Mia McClellan, Megan, Coleman, Clark and Chase Swartzfager.

McHenry Pryor

CRENSHAW– McHenry Pryor, 47, died Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his residence.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Crenshaw. Rev. Prez Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Longtown Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Pryor, born March 8, 1961, in Como, to Dempsey Ross of Memphis and the late Beatrice Pryor, was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his father include: his wife, Gloria Pryor of Crenshaw; one daughter, Aisha Patterson of Crenshaw; four sons, McHenry Pryor Jr., Detrius Pryor, Karrince Patterson, all of Crenshaw and Cornelis Patterson of Atlanta and three grandchildren.

Oudrey Bernard Washington

MEMPHIS- Oudrey Bernard Washington, 62, died Monday, December 29, 2008, at his residence. He was married to the late Stellena Jones Washington formerly of Batesville.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church. Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Washington, born Oct. 7, 1946, in Greenwood, to the late Robert Logan and Edna Banks, was a food service director for Alcorn University and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sylvia B. Williams of Memphis and Stacy J. Washington of Portsmouth, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Logan of Jackson and Robert Logan Jr. of Chicago and three grandchildren.

Monta McNemar Wren

OXFORD– Monta McNemar Wren, 72, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, December 29, 2008, at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peach Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove. Rev. Deborah Mingo Palmer will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home has charge.

Wren, born to the late Curtis and Elva McNemar,  was a member of Sledge United Methodist Church. She had been a business owner in Sledge for 25 years and served as mayor of Sledge in 1985. She also served on the on the Southaven Beautification Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Paul Wren.

Survivors include: two daughters, Terri DeLuca of Cordova, Tenn. and Jennie Denton of Oxford; one brother, Charles McNemar of Southaven; four sisters, Billie Parker of Pleasant Grove, Toosie McGregor of Florence, Ala., Glenda Richardson of Senatobia and Bonita Gibson of Huntsville and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Peach Creek Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association, Mississippi Chapter, 1900 Dunbarton Dr., Suite H, Jackson, Miss. 39216.
