Cougars begin district play tonight in Senatobia

The North Panola boys basketball team is 6-4 going into tonight’s district matchup with Senatobia after falling for the second time this year to Coldwater Friday, 84-59.

Coldwater had a 45-29 lead at halftime. North Panola was outscored 39-30 in the second half.

Last Tuesday, the Cougars fell to Water Valley 62-52.

The Cougars led 19-8 at the end of the first quarter, but the Blue Devils battled back to take a 28-27 lead into halftime.

The third quarter belonged mostly to Water Valley as they outscored the Cougars 17-10 to pull further away.

The fourth quarter was a little closer, but the Cougars were not able to gain the advantage.

Rodriguez Thomas and Aldrick Russell led the Cougars with 13 points each.

The North Panola girls are 6-3 following Friday’s 57-41 loss to Coldwater in non-district action.

Coldwater led 26-15 at halftime and outscored the Lady Cougars 31-26 in the second half.

The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Blue Devils 55-31 last Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars built an 18-5 first quarter lead and led 31-8 at the half.

Lady Cougar coach Chris Yancy was able to use his bench in the second half as they outscored Water Valley 24-23 for the win.

Brittany Patton led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Jalisa Lyons with 13 points and Ariel Mottley with 10.

The district game tonight against Senatobia tips off at 6 p.m. With the girls game.

Friday, the Cougars will return home after three road games to host Lewisburgh in district action beginning at 6 p.m.

Saturday the teams will host MS Palmer in non-district action at 6 p.m.
