Batesville police identified the driver as Jarred Williquette, of 215 Dogwood Lane.

Williquette is not facing any charges related to the incident, said Deputy Chief Don Province.

Jones attends Batesville Intermediate School, where he is a second grader. He is the son of Shannon Jones and Danyelle Pittman, both of Batesville.

A family member said Monday that Jones was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

“His injuries aren’t life threatening, but it’s still serious,” said the family member.

Batesville police, who did not identify the child to the newspaper, said Jones was traveling north while the driver was traveling south.

The accident occurred at 5:22 p.m.

Jones was transported from the scene by medical helicopter, said Deputy Chief Don Province.

Batesville police, hampered by federal privacy rules, did not know where the accident victim was transported.

Police also did not have first-hand knowledge of his condition.

Province said the child was visiting his grandparents on Maple Lane, which intersects with Woodland.
