Lady Tigers need help to buy rings

By Angie Ledbetter

The 2008 South Panola Lady Tigers Fast Pitch 5A State Championship team is seeking donations to pay for championship rings.  Each ring costs $220 and every player receives one.

The rings are not paid for yet, according to Lady Tiger head coach Ashleigh Hicks.

Any business or individual person can donate to help pay for the rings. Last year they were paid for but this year money is still owed.

The rings are expected to arrive any day now, Hicks said.

There will be a banquet held to award each girl her ring. The date will be announced later.

The team won back-to-back State Championships.

“The girls are looking forward to getting them,” Hicks said.

You may donate money by contacting Hicks at South Panola High School or call her at 662-934-1133.

SP fastpitch booster club forms and sets October 9 meeting

The 2008 – 2009 Lady Tiger Fastpitch Booster Club would like to invite the public to become a member.

The cost is $35 a year and includes passes to all home games.  A membership card will allow three people into the games. The money will go into a Fast Pitch only account.

The club members will help make decisions for the fastpitch team such as equipment to be bought or suggestions for the field. A club meeting will be held every three weeks.

The next meeting will be held October 9 at 7 p.m. at the softball field. Hamburgers and French fries will be served for $5.

Forms for the membership are available by contacting Head Coach Ashleigh Hicks at the high school.  Also, she needs a count for the meal on October 9. Deadline for forms is October 6 to get a count for meal.

For more information, contact Hicks at (662) 934-1133.
