Sumner was reluctant to elaborate about the dismissal stating Gale was dismissed due to incidents brought before the board concerning Gale and having to do with job performance and the future of Como stating, “Chief of police is a high position.”

Como board attorney Parker Still was not at Sunday’s meeting but stated that the board first met Friday at 6 p.m. and then again Sunday. Sumner said the meeting was “short and sweet” and that she had recommended the dismissal of Gale.

City officials stated that the board room was full with approximately 30 citizens present at Sunday’s meeting.

The board will meet again tonight to adopt the upcoming fiscal year’s budget only during a special called meeting.
