Billy Eugene Cook

SLEDGE– Billy Eugene Cook, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his residence.

Services were Tuesday at Kimbro Funeral Home. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Franklin officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Cook, born Nov. 2, 1942, in Dubbs, was a retired maintenance for KN-TN Clay.

Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Crawford Cook of Sledge; three sons, Christopher Thomas “Chris” Cook of Dundee, Teddy Eugene Cook of Sarah and Billy Eugene Cook Jr. of Water Valley; one sister, Dorothy Aldridge of Birdie; one brother, Riley Cook of Southaven and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice in Batesville.

Ralph Bishop

SARDIS– Ralph Bishop, 49, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cherry Street M.B. Church. Rev. Eugene Stovall will officiate. Burial will be in Hammond Hill Cemetery in Senatobia. Visitation is today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Bishop, born July 28, 1958, in Sardis, to the late Frank Bishop and Ida Mae Cole Bishop of Sardis, was a truck driver for Ballentine Trucking Company and a member of Cherry Street M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his mother include: his wife, Bernice Bishop of Sardis; three daughters, Roshonna Webb and Kanisha Webb, both of Sardis and Yolanda Ford of Memphis; two sons, Ralph Smith and Ralph Ford, both of Memphis; Garnette McClora of Sardis and Peggy Ann Salter of Memphis; two brothers, Murray Bishop and Shufford Bishop, both of Memphis and nine grandchildren.

Eddie Dillard Jr.

HOLLY SPRINGS–Eddie “Heavy D” Dillard Jr., 48, formerly of Como, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his residence.

Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bell Grove M.B. Church in Chulahoma. Rev. Joe Powell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is today 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Serenity Chapel Funeral Home in Holly Springs. Serenity Funeral Home has charge.

Dillard, born to the late Eddie Dillard and Rebecca Dillard, was a farmer.

Survivors include: three sisters, Josephine Byers of Holly Springs, Susie Davis of Chulahoma and Sally Davis of Sardis; one brother, John Lee Dillard of Sardis.

Bonnie Lou Ellis Corley

COURTLAND–Bonnie Lou Ellis Corley, 60, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at her residence.

Services are Saturday at 3 p.m. At Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rubbie Jean Corley Bradshaw will officiate. Visitation will be today 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.

Corley, born Jan. 11, 1948, to the late Charlie Ellis and the late Vernice Ellis, was a member of Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a retired custodian for Batesville Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Corley.

Survivors include: six sons, Joseph Corley and Antonio Corley, both of Batesville, Michael Corley, Neal Corley, Danny Corley and Lacey Corley, all of Courtland; one daughter, Sharhonda Corley of Batesville; two sisters, Eula Ellis of Memphis and Rose Marie Sanders of Batesville; six brothers, Willie B. Ellis, Worn G. Ellis, Foster Patton, all of Batesville, Walter Ellis, James Ellis and George Ellis, all of Memphis; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Spencer Morris Lindsay Jr.

RIVERSIDE, Calif.–Spencer Morris Lindsay Jr., 46, died July 15, 2008, at his parent’s home in Batesville.

Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at New Rock Hill M.B. Church. Rev. C.J. Battle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge.

Lindsay, born Jan. 7, 1962, was a construction worker.

Survivors include: his parents, Spencer Morris Lindsay Sr. and Pauline Lindsay of Batesville.

Isaac Gross

MARKS–Isaac Gross, 59, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his residence.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lakeview M.B. Church in Askew. Rev. H.P. Washington will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation is today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Gross, born May 21, 1949, in Marks, to the late Ike Gross and the late Luewella Willingham Gross, was a member of Lakeview M.B. Church and a custodian.

Survivors include: his wife, Irma Gross of Chicago; five sons, Isaac Gross III of Chicago, Mickale Haynes of Milwaukee, Eric Patterson of Senatobia, Reggie Raglond of Marks and Jeffery Johnson of Senatobia; six daughters, Monica Kelly of Senatobia, Annette Patterson and Santeuia Kirkwood, both of Crenshaw, Sherry Butler and April Raglond, both of Lambert and Diane Haynes of Milwaukee; six sisters, Lucille Gross of Sledge, Julia Maeweather of Marks, Collie Mae Campbell of Memphis, Rosie Willingham of Clarksdale, Geneva Farr of Chicago, Ill. and Linda Faye Fluealla of Horn Lake; one brother, Willie James Smith of Sledge and a host of grandchildren.

Frances Lee Griffin Young

MILWAUKEE, Wis.–Frances Lee Griffin Young, 53, formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at her residence.

Services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church. Dr. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Survivors include: three sons, Steven Young, Keithe Scott and Keno Scott, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; three daughters, Zambia Cephus, Uganda Cephus and Mateka Young, all of Milwaukee; six sisters, Rosemary Shegog, Meledia Freeman, Sharon Cole, all of Batesville, Jackie Griffin, Pattie Griffin and Julie Thomas, all of Milwaukee; four brothers, M.L. Griffin, Gary Griffin and Terry Griffin, all of Batesville and Ronald Bean of Milwaukee.
