Grant Goforth, Marlee Goforth and McKenzie West were the only three members of the South Panola tennis team who qualified for state competition on May 7.
South Panola hosted the district tournament last Thursday at Trussell Park. With tight matches, the tournament lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grant Goforth had a first round bye but won his last two matches 6-0, 6-0 over Ben Griffin of Southaven and 6-4, 7-5 over Ponesz of Olive Branch.
Marlee Goforth and West play girls doubles and had a first round bye. They won their next three matches 6-0, 6-0 over Olive Branch; 6-1, 6-1 over Southaven and 6-1, 6-0 over Olive Branch.
Olive Branch had defeated the girls doubles team of Jordan Williams and Alyssa Boren 6-0, 6-0.
