In a possibly unprecendented move, the NCAA allowed Alcorn State to sign the late Michael Johnson to a full scholarship for the 2008-09 year.
Johnson, a senior at North Delta, was killed January 27 in an automobile accident. After hearing of the accident, Alcorn pushed to be able to sign Johnson even though he is not present to do so himself.
North Delta School held a signing ceremony Wednesday morning with the high school students. Johnson’s parents Odessa and Michael and brother A.J. Johnson were present. His mother signed for him.
