The teams from the north won four of five state championships this year beginning with the 2A West Bolivar 25-22 win over Taylorsville Friday afternoon.

South Panola played in the 5A game Friday night and defeated George County 28-21.

Saturday morning the 1A teams met and north’s Ray Brooks defeated Puckett 34-21 in its second state championship in three years. Puckett was the defending state champion.

Saturday afternoon north’s Louisville had very little trouble with Franklin County and won 21-7.

The final game of the weekend was the 4A matchup between Laurel and Noxubee County. Laurel, from the south, held off a determined Noxubee County 19-16.
