As the South Panola Tigers and fans prepare for their sixth straight 5A State Championship in Jackson tonight, there are a few reminders on tap.
The Panolian staff has put together a special section to honor the Tigers for continuing to make history.
Inside is a center spread pull out to put in car windows and hold up at the game to show your support.
Tickets will be sold at the high school until 10 a.m. For $10. At the gate, tickets will be $12.
For those who cannot make the game for one reason or another, it will be televised on Mississippi Public Broadcasting for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
WBLE radio will start its pregame show at 6:15 p.m., said commentator Judge George Carlson.
Steve Wingert will have an extended interview with head coach Lance Pogue.
Carlson suggests to listeners who plan to watch the game on TV, to cut down the volume on the TV broadcast and listen to the broadcast on the radio as they watch the game on TV.
“This will also give our listeners a chance to critique the radio crew’s broadcast since they will also be able to see the play unfold on TV as we call it on the air,” Carlson said.
The weather is predicted to be about 66 degrees at game time.
This is the Tiger team’s 10th trip to the championship game. South Panola owns six trophies from the previous nine trips. Tonight’s victory would give the Tigers an unprecedented fifth straight championship.
