SP Lady Tigers shutout last two opponents

The South Panola Lady Tigers made short work of Coldwater in non-district action Monday, 17-0.

It only took three innings to retire the struggling Cougar team behind the pitching of Lady Tiger Sabrina Townsend. Marissa McDaniel relieved Townsend in the third inning. Both had two strikeouts and each allowed one run.

Tuesday, the Lady Tigers(3-2) traveled to J.Z. George for more non-district action and won in a shutout 11-0.

Against Coldwater Monday, Haylei Plummer hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.

The whole lineup hit and scored at least once in the first inning. Some batters scored twice.

Hitting for the Lady Tigers were Haley Hood, two for two, two walks; Stormie Robinson, three for three, two singles, one walk; Plummer, three for three, one homerun, one double, one walk; Casi Brooks, two for two, two singles; Sabrina Townsend, thee for three, one double, one single, one walk; Kasey Kelsay, three for three, two singles, one fielders choice; Meredith Roberson, two for three, two walks; Latara Ferrell, three for three, two walks, one fielders choice; Raquel “Sally” Burdette, one for two, one single; and Chelsea Austin, two for two, one double and one single.

The Lady Tigers will face Coldwater in a rematch on the road Monday at 4 p.m.

The scheduled home game against Independence on Thursday, August 30, is expected to be changed due to the start of the football season on that day.
