Fred R. Meurrier

BATESVILLE– Fred R. Meurrier, 81, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rusty Fair will officiate. Burial will be in Longtown Cemetery in Crenshaw. Visitation will be today at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Meurrier, born Sept. 9, 1925, to the late Joseph Franklin and Mary Jane Brown Meurrier in Marked Tree, Ark., was a retired farmer and served during WWII in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Owen Meurrier.

Survivors include: two daughters, Trina M. Caffey of Batesville and Anita M. Landrum of Cordova, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Barbara Ann Morrow McCullar

COURTLAND– Barbara Ann Morrow McCullar, 75, died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Todd Pittman officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

McCullar, born Oct. 18, 1931, in Batesville to the late Casey Sherman and Gladys Clevenger Morrow, was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. She was also retired  from Panola Mills.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Morrow.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Ann Burchfield of Batesville and Becky Hurt of Coldwater; two brothers, Bobby Morrow and Edward Morrow,  both of Courtland; four sisters, Betty Aldridge of Courtland, Theresa Douglas and Faye Christ , both of Batesville and Diane Latham of Senatobia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Antioch Cemetery Fund c/o Stan Sullivant , 861-A  Sullivant Rd., Batesville.


Billy Byron Norris

CHARLESTON– Billy Byron Norris, 57, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at Grenada Care Center.

Services are Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Cannon will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Norris, born March 30, 1950, in Sledge to the late James Matthew and Syble Jeanette Boyette Norris, was a retired truck driver. He also served in the United States Army.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kala Dane Norris of Richland; three sons, William Leon Patterson of Kosciusko, Jeremy Norris and Michael Norris, both of Grenada; three sisters, Linda Doubleday of Charleston, Brenda Franklin of Pope and Pam Norris of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Jackie Norris of Tupelo, Tony Norris of Biloxi and Delmer Norris of Douglasville, Ga. and three grandchildren.


Clay Sullivan

SARDIS– Clay Sullivan, 33, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at his residence.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Sullivan, born Dec. 31, 1973, in Panola County to Betty Sue Edlin Sullivan and the late Thomas Barnes, was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a stay-at-home father.

Survivors along with his mother Sue Sullivan Kirby, include: his wife, Anna Whitten Sullivan  of Sardis; one daughter, Amy Grace Sullivan of Sardis; his step-father, Everett Kirby of Sardis; two sisters, Belinda McCollum of Memphis and Brenda George of Sardis; and two brothers, Tommy Sullivan of Memphis and Tommy Mason of Sardis.
