Meet the Cougars Thursday
As of Monday afternoon, North Panola’s transportation director Clifton Davis Jr. was waiting on a vote from the school board to make him this year’s head football coach.
The board met after press time and approved Davis for the position just 10 days before the season opener.
Two weeks ago, the school board met and was ready to vote on a new head coach, but questions about Davis holding two supervisory positions were raised and the vote was delayed.
Davis is looking forward to directing two of the top 125 seniors in their final year of high school football.
Templeton Hardy and Bruce Wilbourn were named to the short list in the Clarion-Ledger released Sunday.
Also, a Meet the Cougars night will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. on the football field.
The Cougars will open the season on the road Friday, August 31. They will travel to Clarksdale to take on Coahoma County at 7 p.m.
