The one exception was the head football coaching job at the high school. Clifton Davis Jr.’s selection as head coach was deferred until August 20. Davis also serves as the transportation director. Questions arose about individuals in supervisory positions serving in dual roles.

Davis was the former coach of 22 years before he was replaced in 2001.

Other coaching positions were filled.

Upon the retirement of Tony Ragon as the junior high football coach, Marvin Jackson was tabbed as the head coach. Alvin Jackson was hired as a junior high assistant coach.

Also at the junior high, Kenneth Bell will return as the head girls basketball coach. Jamone Edwards will be the head junior high boys coach. Edwards was a former high school boys coach.

Assistant football coaches hired are Sean Norwood, Eric Rice, Clifton O. Davis II, offensive coordinator and Eddie Maxon, defensive coordinator.

Pamela Preston was hired as the cheerleader coach.

Christopher Yancy will return as the head girls high school basketball coach.
