Tigers win 3 of 4 this week

The South Panola summer baseball team won three of four games Monday and Tuesday.

Monday, the Tigers hosted Water Valley and split with the Blue Devils.

South Panola won the first game 13-1 and lost the second 9-5. In the first game, Brian Fortner, one single, one double; Bryce Belvin, one double; Tyler Benson and Monroe Harrison two singles each.

In the second game, Wesley Gregg and Matthew Brown, two singles each; Mitchell Babb, Robbie Brown, Matt Hendrix, Lee Self and Belvin had one hit each.

Tuesday night the Tigers hosted Lewisburg and had two tough games on their hands.

David Renfroe came in in relief in the seventh inning and got the 11-10 win.

“Lewisburg gave us all we wanted,” Tiger head coach Patrick Robey said.

Renfroe hit two doubles. Other hitters include Jim Tom Copeland, Belvin and Self, two singles each; Coty Bryant and Colton Ales, one single each.

South Panola took the second game 9-7. Fortner was the winning pitcher. Ales got the save.

Hitting for the Tigers were Benson, two singles; Renfroe, one double; Belvin, two singles; Bryant, one single; Harrison, sacrifice fly RBI.

Some South Panola Tigers who took part in the State Games last month were Renfroe, Ales, Corbin Moore, Ethan Bright and Benson.

The Tigers will end summer play Monday when they host Hernando at 5 and 7 p.m. The Tuesday game against Oxford has been canceled.
