Writer questions immigration laws

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.  For over twenty years our federal government, lead by both Democrats and Republicans, had laws against illegal immigration and laws which call for punishment of those who knowingly hire them.  When we Americans are told something by our government we tend to believe it.  However as history has shown over the years, our federal government has not been serious about enforcing the law.  The result:  12 – 20 million aliens have invaded our nation and the problem continues to grow exponentially.  Shame on our federal government.  Now come Senators Kennedy, Lott and President Bush and suggest that the solution would be to pass “comprehensive” legislation to deal with the problem.  Scholars who have looked at the details conclude that it’s a form of amnesty, and lacks a verifiable means of stopping the invasion.  Here’s a novel approach:  Let’s first honestly and vigorously enforce our existing laws.  Let’s first certifiably stop the hemorrhaging.  Only then can we honestly and rationally deal justly with those came here by first breaking our laws.
