Dewitt Madlock

SARDIS–Dewitt Madlock, 78, previously of Detroit, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Oakwood Hospital of Dearborn, Mich.

Services were Wednesday at noon at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial was in Mt. Level Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Madlock was the owner of Madlock Security.

Survivors include: his wife, Juanita Madlock; two daughters, Deloris Grier of Southfield, Mich. and Ruby Lester of Jonestown; two sons, Fred Madlock of Southfield, Mich. and Tom  Carr of Memphis; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Davaris Deshun Smith

SARDIS–Davaris Deshun Smith, 22, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Rev. Bobby Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Smith, born June 27, 1984, in Sardis, to Ursula Smith Cauthern of Sardis and the late James Davis, was a member of Mt. Level M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his mother include: his grandparents, Hattie Smith of Southaven and Donald and Bertha Davis of Sardis; one brother, Charlie Cauthern III of Courtland; two sisters, Kristy Smith of Sardis and Densha Davis of Crenshaw and his step-father, Charlie Cauthern Jr. of Courtland.

Atlena Webb

BATESVILLE–Atlena Webb, 91, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at her residence.

Services were Saturday at New Enon Baptist Church. Burial was in New Enon Church Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.

Webb, born Sept. 22, 1915, to the late Ed Smith and the late Edna Joiner, was a homemaker and a member of New Enon Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, David Webb of Sardis and James Webb of Batesville; one sister, Corine Orange of Oxford; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild
