Talk It Out second annual camp to be held June 2
Greenhill Elementary School PTO and Talk It Out, Inc. will host its second annual boys and girls basketball camp Saturday, June 2, PTO president Billy Brown said. The basketball camp is for children between the ages of 7-14 years old. Its purpose is to help students build character, strengthen morals, and develop friendships that will last for years, Brown said.
In addition to helping children develop their current talents and introducing them to new experiences, the camp seeks to improve each child’s level of confidence and instill high self-esteem.
Let’s Talk It Out, Inc. is a small non-profit outreach ministry within Panola County area whose primary objective is to give today’s youth a voice by providing an opportunity to express their concerns and opinions on the various issues, said Brown.
Greenhill Elementary PTO has once again selected Let’s Talk It Out, Inc. as this year’s official community service beneficiary.
Last year’s basketball camp consisted of 50 youths from a multitude of backgrounds and ages. Via funds raised, each child was able to attend the all day event that consisted of free lunch and guest presenters. At the completion of the camp each child received a specialty t-shirt.
This year the Boys and Girls Basketball Camp “tip-off” will take place June 2, 2007 at the North Panola Gymnasium 500 Hwy 51 N, Sardis, at 8 a.m. The camp offers our youth opportunities for excitement, discovery, spiritual/personal growth and more, Brown said.
“However, we need your support,” Brown continued. “I’m asking for you to support Let’s Talk It Out, Inc. Boys and Girls Basketball Camp.” Sponsorships range from the “Slam Dunk” for $1,000 to the “Free Throw,” a donation of any amount. Brown suggests a dollar a day – starting today,” he said. “A dollar a day can make a big difference to our youth by providing items such as sports equipment and meals.
Donations to support the boys and girls basketball camp may be mailed to Talk It Out, Inc./ Greenhill PTO, c/o Boys and Girls Camp Sponsorship, 7102 Hwy 310 West, Como, MS 38619.
