Breath test refused in anger brings hefty fine in city court By Emily Williams A Batesville man entered a guilty plea to DUI-refusal in Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday after telling Judge Bill McKenzie he wasn’t under the influence but was mad because he and his wife had "gotten into it" and just didn’t want to blow in the breathalizer test. Willie B. Ellis Jr., 109 Everette St., Batesville, was fined $1,849 for DUI-refusal, no proof of insurance, driving while license suspended and expired tag. Heather Doan, 148 Northwood Dr., Batesville, entered a "not guilty" plea to DUI-other second. "I was not under the influence of any substance, but I have medication for carpal tunnel and anxiety medication," said Doan. She entered a guilty plea to no seat belt and will have a trial for the DUI-other charge April 25. Possession Perry Poole, 113 Cole Dr., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana less than an ounce, no driver’s license and careless driving. He entered the city’s work program for 25 days instead of paying his total fines of $1,017. Grand Jury Vendetta Miller, 502 Jefferson, Oxford, faces a felony embezzlement charge and was referred to the grand jury. Contempt of Court AAA Bonding Company was notified. Anthony House, 214 Dewberry St., Sardis, was told last week to return to court with receipts proving he paid his old fines of $354 that have been due since August 2006. He returned with no receipts and the judge told him to have his fines paid in full by April 18 or serve 90 days in jail. Thomas Snyder, 4284 Hwy. 51 South, Pope, entered the city’s work program for 11 days instead of paying old fines of $451 that have been due since December 2006. Erick Gleaton, 606-B Gleaton Rd., Pope, had old fines of $353 that have been due since August 2006. The judge told Gleaton to have the fines paid in full April 18 or serve 90 days in jail. Nicholas Market, Chapel Hill, Pope, entered the city’s work program for 11 days instead of paying old fines of $451 that have been due since August 2006. Jason McClay, 304 Hubbard Rd., Pope, failed to appear to answer a contempt of court charge for old fines of $675 that have been due since September 2006. Alright Bonding Company was notified. Other Ashley Anderson, 335 Shamrock, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to public drunk and disorderly conduct-failure to comply. She was fined $870. Tickets Kevin A. Hines, 3671 Bethlehem Rd., Batesville, was fined $178 for driving while license suspended. He had the lower fine imposed after proving he had his license reinstated. Angie D. Gentry, 380 Tallahatchie St., Crowder, had a no proof of insurance ticket continued. Gentry was told to return to court with proof of insurance. Nathan Johnson, 134 Williams St., Batesville, was fined $356 for driving while license suspended. Kiana M. Lockwood, 324 Patton Lane #14, Batesville, returned with proof of insurance she received after the ticket was issued. The lower fine of $183 was imposed. William B. Rogers, 143 Teasdale, Charleston, had a no proof of insurance charge continued. Rita D. Stinson, 12902 Ballentine Rd., Sardis, had a lower fine of $183 imposed for no proof of insurance. Larry J. Kirksey, 84 Ivy Gordon Ave., Courtland, was fined $356 for driving while license suspended. Randy D. Albritton, 127 Powers Creek, Cascilla, was fined $265 for open container. Xavier Hines, 445 Sanders Rd., Sardis, entered the city’s work program for four days instead of paying $131 for disregarding a traffic device. Katherine M. Bownes, 63 Sanford Rd., Courtland, was fined $131 for no child restraint. Latoya L. Windfield, 616 Power St., Coldwater, had a lower fine of $183 imposed for no proof of insurance. Kawanda M. Martin, 749 Tennessee St., Coffeeville, had a lower fine of $183 imposed for no proof of insurance. |
