PATTON, Nona Aleen Ware
    
COURTLAND – Nona Aleen Ware Patton, 83, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at her residence.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Cannon will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
     Patton, born Aug. 10, 1923, to the late Joe Thomas Ware and the late Nona Bell Shankle Ware, was a retired salesperson for Southland Corp. of Louisiana and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Patton; grandsons, Larry Raye Patton and Travis Edwin Patton and two granddaughters, Jerri Lynn Tutor and Patricia Faye Patton.
     Survivors include: three sons, Edwin Bonner of Water Valley, Joe Patton of Collinsville, Va. and Larry Patton of Courtland; three daughters, Jean Beard of Pope, Shirley Clark of Courtland and Nona Weeks of Slaughter, La.; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.


PATTON, Travis Edwin
    
COLLINSVILLE, VA. – Travis Edwin Patton, 20, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He is the grandson of Aleen Patton of Pope.
     Services were Saturday in the South Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett, Va. Pastor Susie Brack officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park. Bassett Funeral Service Home had charge.
     Patton was born Oct. 18, 1986, to Joe E. Patton of Collinsville and Brenda Arnold Patton of Collinsville.
     He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edwin "Dude" Arnold and Thomas Patton.
     Survivors along with his parents and grandmother include: three brothers, Joe E. Patton Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Ryan L. Patton of Collinsville and Cody Woodruff of Alexandria, La.; two sisters, Lorrie Pace of Senatobia and April Sanders of Charleston; his grandmother Pat Arnold of Fieldale, Va.
     In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Travis E. Patton Memorial Fund and Dupont Credit Union (at any credit union branch) or the S.P.C.A., 132 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville, Va. 24112.

PITCOCK, Ralph
    
BATESVILLE – Ralph Pitcock, 80, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
     Services were Thursday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jay Anderson officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Pitcock, born Feb. 10, 1926, to the late Willie Earl and Osie Lee Walker Pitcock, worked as a machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was also a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
     He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Pitcock, his great-grandson, Will Robison and daughter, Donna Pitcock Robison.
     Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Pitcock Williams of Pope and Melanie Pitcock Perry of Clarksdale; one sister, Mary Edna Bevell of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Cecil Pitcock of Pope; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

PITTMAN, Mary Louise Patton
     BATESVILLE – Mary Louise Patton Pittman, 88, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Golden Age Living Center.
     Services were Saturday at Good Way Pentecostal Church. Rev. Mike Dutton officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Pittman, born April 5, 1918, to the late Johnny Lagrone Patton and the late Pearl Keighton Patton, was a homemaker and a member of Good Way Pentecostal Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Alma Loyd Pittman; one daughter, Vera P. Lucius; one sister, Ruth Pope and three brothers, Tom, J.L. and Clinton Patton.
     Survivors include: seven daughters, Ruby Scruggs of Courtland, Sarah Darby of Enid, Linda Lee of Sardis, Lula Morrisey of Covington, Ky., Jenny Waldo of Memphis, Bonnie Brotherton of Huntington, Tenn. and Tottie Ewing of Senatobia; four sons, Carl "Buddy" Pittman, Terry Pittman, Mack Pittman and David Pittman, all of Batesville; one brother, Clifton Patton of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 45 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.


POOLE, Virginia Eva Strong
    
BATESVILLE – Virginia Eva Strong Poole, 73, died Monday, January 15, 2007, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Rev. W.L. Nash will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Strong, born May 16, 1933 in Courtland to the late William Wright and the late Ida B. Strong, was a homemaker and a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church.
     Survivors include: nine daughters, Ella Poole, Lillie Henderson, Gennie Smith, Anna Poole, Yvette Poole and Patricia Fletcher, all of Batesville, Johnnie Jackson and Jacqueline Henderson, both of Memphis and Earmera Thompson of Oxford; seven sons, Clyde Poole, Lawrence Strong, Larry Poole, Prince Poole and Solomon Poole, all of Batesville, Robert Poole Jr. of Sardis and Rev. Jesse Poole of Crenshaw; two sisters, Mary Nickles of Memphis, Bernice Walton of Batesville; three brothers, Tommie Strong, Cleo Strong and Johnny Ray Strong, all of Batesville; 73 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


PRATT, Edwin Berkley
    
GREENVILLE – Edwin Berkley Pratt, 82, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Mississippi Care Center in Greenville.
     Memorial services will be today with graveside services at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Doug Herring will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
     Pratt, born Nov. 27, 1924, to the late Kern Pratt Sr. and the late Viola Warren Pratt, was a retired engineer for Mississippi Valley Gas and a business owner of Western Auto in Sardis and Greenville. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a graduate of Mississippi State University.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Burgin Pratt; one son, Ed Pratt and one brother, Kern Pratt Jr.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beth Podgurski of New Orleans, La. and Lil Curtis of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Kern Pratt III and Charles Franklin Pratt, both of Greenville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
