WAGNER, Blanche Kirby
    
RAYMOND – Blanche Kirby Wagner, 91, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at her home following a long illness.
     Visitation is today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Raymond with the service immediately following. Burial will be in Raymond Cemetery. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home has charge.
     Wagner, born in Houlka on June 17, 1914, married John W. Wagner on Jan. 1, 1940, and resided in Batesville until 1962 when they moved to Isola. They also resided in Bolivar, Tenn. and Monterey, La. before moving to Raymond in 1996. She was actively involved in church ministries everywhere she lived, serving as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, WMU leader, and vacation Bible school teacher. She also served as pastor’s wife in Monterey and Acme, La.
     Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John W. Wagner; two daughters, Johnnie Marshall of Vicksburg and Mary Ann Averitt of Raymond; one son, Buddy Wagner of Clinton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a nephew.
     Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Raymond or a charity of the donor’s choice.


WAID, Frances Seale
    
BATESVILLE – Frances Seale Waid, 84, died Thursday, April 18, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is today at Wells Funeral Home from noon until service time. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home in charge.
     Born Dec. 25, 1921, in Parrish, Tenn., she was a retired secretary for Wells Funeral Home and a member of Terza United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include her husband Terry Waid of Batesville and one sister Virginia Burns Rossinni of Memphis.

WALLACE, Bearl Dew
    
BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. – Bearl Dew Wallace, 80, died Saturday, January 28, 2006, at his residence.
     Graveside services with military honors were Monday at Friendship Cemetery in Como. William Mullins and David McKinney officiated. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
     Wallace, born Sept. 26, 1925, in Crenshaw to the late Rhoderick Dew and the late Ruth Graham Wallace, served in the Navy during WWII, aboard the U.S.S. Rigel in the South Pacific. He retired from the U.S. Air Force at Blytheville Air Force Base, having served 26 years. He was a graduate of Southern Baptist College (now Williams College) of Walnut Ridge, Ark. and the attended the University of Minnesota and Arkansas State University. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Blytheville where he taught in the youth and men’s departments. He served as a bivocational pastor during his military career. He was a member of Blytheville Lions Club.
     He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Lamar Wallace.
     Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary E. Wilhelm Wallace of Blytheville; two daughters, Linda M. Wallace Fisher of Medway, Ohio and Freda G. Wallace McKinney of Kettering, Ohio; one brother, Clarion Wallace of Batesville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

WALLACE, James Seth    
     COLUMBUS, MS – James "Jim" Seth Wallace, 29, of Columbus died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at his home. He is the husband of Kelli Wingert Wallace formerly of Batesville.
     Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 24, at Browning Funeral Home, 141 Oxford St., Pontotoc. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
     Wallace, son of Jim and Darlene Wallace of Pontotoc, was a band director at Columbus High School.
     Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include one daughter, Kaitlyn Izabela Wallace of Columbus; mother-in-law, Susan Wingert of Batesville; father-in-law, Steve Wingert of Batesville; and brother/sister-in-law, Kit and Heather Wingert of Batesville.
     Memorials may be made to the Bela Wallace fund at BancorpSouth in Columbus.


WALLACE, Roderic Clarion "R.C."
    
BATESVILLE –  Roderic Clarion "R.C." Wallace, 73, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at his residence.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
     Wallace, born March 29, 1932, in Crenshaw to the late Roderic Dean Wallace and the late Ella Ruth Graham Wallace, was retired from Pennaco Industries. He was also a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Nelson Wallace.
     Survivors include six sons, Ronald Wallace of Oxford, Gary Wallace of Batesville, Denny Wallace of Rustin, La., Jerry Williamson of Acworth, Ga., Laurence Williamson of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. and Mike Williamson of Athens, Ga.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
 


WALLS, Marvin
    
COURTLAND –  Marvin Walls, 63, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at Tri – Lakes Medical Center.
     Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at West Camp M.B. Church. Burial will be in West Camp M.B. Cemetery. Eddie Robison and Son Funeral Home has charge.
     Walls, born Jan. 6, 1943, to the late Hartford Sr. and Zula Walls, was a retired truck driver.
     Survivors include his wife, Margaret Walls; seven daughters, Catherine Law of Marina, Calif., Farris Pierce of Oakland, Calif., Dorothy Johnson of San Leandro, Calif., Tanya Davis of Courtland, Jennifer Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., Lasira Walls of Courtland and Catira Harvey of Fairbanks, Ak.; three sons, Michael Johnson and Marcell Walls, both of Courtland and Tony Walls of Batesville and a host of grandchildren.


WALLS, Velma Hines
    
COURTLAND – Velma Hines Walls, 69, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at her residence.
     Services were Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at New Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. Walter Nash officiated. Burial was in New Bethlehem Cemetery in Batesville.
     Walls, born Dec. 24. 1936, in Panola County to the late Robert Hines and the late Ida Hines, was retired from Framed Pictures and a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Carey Walls, and one son, Darron Keith Walls.
     Survivors include one son, Glenn Hines of Courtland and two daughters, Sharon Johnson of Courtland and Carolyn Hubrins of Batesville.


WALTON, Dorothy P.
    
Dorothy P. Walton, 77, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Clarksdale Nursing Center where she was a resident.
     Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Clarksdale Church of Christ. Al Franks and Jeff Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery in Shelby. National Funeral Home in Clarksdale has charge.
     Walton, born Sept. 18, 1928, in Doddsville to the late Rosa Mae Blanton Prewitt and R.K. Prewitt, was a retired insurance clerk for Bobo Insurance Agency. She was a member of Clarksdale Church of Christ and graduate of Clarksdale High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Walton Jr.
     Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Walton Webster of Clarksdale; one son, John L. Walton III of Madison, Ala.; two brothers, R.K. Prewitt Jr. and Melton Prewitt, both of Oxford; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksdale Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.


WARD, Sadie Mae
    
SARDIS – Sadie Mae Ward, 93, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at Davis Chapel Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Davis Chapel Cemetery. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home has charge.
     Ward, born Dec. 23, 1912, to the late B.F. Mathews and the the late Della Taylor Mathews, was a sales clerk.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ward.
     Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Dean of Sardis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


WARE, Clifton C.
    
BATESVILLE – Clifton C. Ware, 57, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Ware, born July 3, 1948, to the late Walter Edward and Mary Addie Hutchins Ware in Yalobusha County, was a factory worker.
     Survivors include his wife, Debra Ware of Batesville; five daughters, Alice Weatherford of Jonesboro, Ark., Connie Partain of Missouri, Polly Freltofte of Ventura, Calif. and Marie Johnson and Michelle Merritt, both of Blytheville, Ark.; three sons, Clifford Ware of Jackson, Tenn., Michael Ware of Jonesboro, Ark. and Jonathan Ware of Paragould, Ark.; three sisters, EvaWare Bates of Rutland, Ill., Judie Ware Melton of Senatobia and Beverly Ware Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Walter Earl Ware of Batesville and Stanley Eugene Ware of Grenada; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


WARE, Kelvin
    
COMO – Kelvin Ware, 25, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, from injuries received during an automobile accident.
     Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cistern Hill M.B. Church. Burial will be in Braham Chapel Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Ware was a factory worker and a member of Pleasant Grove Church in Crenshaw.
     Survivors include his parents, Renether Ware of Como and Mack Howard of Crenshaw; one sister, Keisha Ware of Como; three brothers, Mack Ware of Walls and Jamal Ware and Derke Ware, both of Como.


WARREN, Amy
    
COLLIERVILLE – Amy Warren, 43, died Monday, February 6, 2006, at her residence.
     Memorial services were Friday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel had charge.
Warren, born in Batesville, was an employee of Walgreen’s for 18 years.
     Survivors include her mother Betty Logue, her father Donald Logue and step-mother Anita Logue, all of Batesville; one daughter, Maggie Smith of Hernando; two sons, Joseph Warren Jr. and Andrew Warren, both of Collierville; one brother, Barry Logue of Batesville; one sister, Donna Logue of Memphis and one grandson.


WARRINGTON, Heggie A.
    
OXFORD – Heggie A. Warrington, 82, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford.
     Graveside services are today at 2 p.m. at Marks Cemetery. Rev. James Tidwell will officiate. Visitation is today from 1 to 2 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.
     Warrington, born April 24, 1924, in Darling to the late Norman J. and Lilly Mae Warrington, graduated from Laferia High School in Texas and attended Mississippi State University. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, as a surgical technician during his first tour of duty and with the 82nd airborne during his second tour. He was also a member of Darling Baptist Church.
     Survivors include one sister, Phyllis W. Dale of Walls; one brother Jack Warrington of Leland and several nieces and nephews.


WATSON, Ronald Dean
    
FRANKLIN, Tenn.- Ronald Dean Watson, 70, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He was married to Jacqualine Fair of the Locke Station community for 52 years.
     Visitation is today at noon with funeral services at 1 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Batesville-Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Watson was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Pawhuska, Okla., to the late Price Marvin and Ruby Golden Watson. After graduating from Clarksdale High School he joined the U.S. Army and was deployed to Heidleburg, Germany where he spent three years with the 33rd Army Band. Upon returning he worked for J.C. Penney for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
     Watson was very involved with civic organizations, serving on the board of the Better Business Bureau of Nashville, the board of the American Red Cross in Nashville, and the board of the S.C.O.R.E. (Service Corps of Retired Executives). His main service focus was always with Rotary International. He served in many capacities during his long association with Rotary including president of the Antioch, Tenn. club before moving his membership to the Brentwood club after his retirement. He was a 6th level Paul Harris fellow with Rotary. His life’s creed was that of the Rotary.
     He was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Baptist Church.
     Survivors, along with his wife Jackie, include two daughters, Laura Dean Watson Kelly of Birmingham, Ala. and Angelique Watson Missildine of Auburn, Ala.; one son, Marvin Davis Watson of Pikeville, Ky.; one brother, Arnold Eugene Watson of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Joann Watson Parker of Jackson and five grandchildren.


WATTS, Claude Homer
     BATESVILLE – Claude Homer Watts, 90, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at his residence.
     Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Watts, born Nov. 15, 1915, to the late Earnest and Allie Hastings Watts, was a retired truck driver and a retired farmer.
     Survivors include: his wife, Idell Simpson Watts of Batesville; one son, Danny Watts of Memphis; one sister, Meda Jean Watts Arendale of Batesville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
     Memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church in Batesville.


WEBB, Gracie
    
COMO- Gracie Webb, 103, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at her residence.
     Services are Saturday at noon at Hunter Chapel M.B. Church. Burial will be in Hunter Chapel Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Webb was a farmer, a homemaker and served on the Mother Board.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Gene Webb; one daughter, Ruth Taylor of Chicago; one son, Nathaniel Daniels of Memphis; seven grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.


WEBB, Maudie Ree Morris
    
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Maudie Ree Morris Webb, 92, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Palm Valley Rehab and Care Center.
     Services are Saturday at noon at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville. Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation has charge.
     Webb, born July 25, 1914, in Batesville, was retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind. She also attended public schools in Panola County.
     Survivors include two sisters, Minnie Mae Overall of St. Louis, Mo. and Zernona Jackson of Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
 


WEBB, Oscar Jr.
    
SARDIS – Oscar Webb Jr., 82, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were Saturday at McIvor M.B. Church. Burial was in Mt. Level Church Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
     Webb was a retired bus driver for Panola County schools and a member of McIvor M.B. Church.
     Survivors include four daughters, Vonzell Logan, Josephine Floyd, Brenda J. Russell and Dorothy Ann Roberson, all of Sardis; five sons, Willie E. Webb, Robert L. Webb, Oscar G. Webb and Aurther J. Webb, all of Sardis and James Gipson of Ohio; 34 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.


WEBB, Robert
     SENATOBIA – Robert Webb, 50, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Memphis.
     Services were Thursday at West Antioch #2 Church in Coldwater. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
     Webb was a member of the Institution of Devine Metaphysical Research.
     Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Webb; two sons, Roderick Webb and Ricco Orange, both of Senatobia; his parents, Eddie Walker and step-mother Barbara Walker of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Evelyn Jean Davis and Vida Brunt, both of Senatobia, Diane Webb of Shreveport, La., Casandra Dunning of Austin, Texas and


WEBSTER, Eursie Mae Smith
     BRIDGEPORT, Ala. – Eursie Mae Smith Webster, 92, formerly of Pope, died Monday, May 8, 2006.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pope. Visitation will be at noon at the First Baptist Church in Pope. Rev. Roger Richards and her son-in-law, Brother Don Abbott, will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
     Webster was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the OES in Pope.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Webster, her parents, Edward and Elector Anthony Smith, and six brothers and sisters.
     Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Abbott of Bridgeport, Ala.; one brother, Dale Smith of Pope; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


WHEATLEY, J.D.
    
SARDIS – J.D. Wheatley, 69, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
     Services are Thursday at 1 p.m. at Harmonia M.B. Church. Burial will be in Harmonia Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Wheatley was employed at the Sardis Housing Authority.
     Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Wheatley and Kathey Wheatley, both of Horn Lake and Bernice Kirkwood of Memphis; four sons, Thomas Wheatley and Charles Wheatley, both of Senatobia, Robert Wheatley of Memphis and Mark Wheatley of Sardis; two sisters, Narzee Jackson and Wardell Harrell, both of Memphis; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


WHEATLEY, Lizzie Be Dodd
    
SARDIS – Lizzie Be Dodd Wheatley, 66, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at her residence.
     Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church in Batesville. Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be today 10 a.m.  – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Wheatley, born Dec. 4, 1939, to the late Earl Dodd and the late Georgia Wagner, was a homemaker and a member of Abundant C.O.G.I.C. Church in Charleston.
     Survivors include four daughters, Linda Armstrong, Edith Wheatley and Cynthia Wheatley, all of Sardis and Vickie Black of Memphis, Tenn.; five sons, Walter Wheatley, Shedrick Gordon, both of Sardis, Dwanie Wheatley of Courtland, Tony Wheatley and Davis Wheatley of Memphis; two sisters, Mamie Roberson of Albany, Ga. and Jessie K. Perry of Chicago, Ill.; one step-daughter, Josephine Jackson of Sardis; her Godmother, Georgia Lester of Sardis; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.


WHITE, Carnelia Marie Parish
    
MARKS – Carnelia Marie Parish White, 71, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services were Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     White, born June 18, 1934, in Quitman County to the late Davis Isaac and Margaret Louise Garrett Parish, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a homemaker.
     She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynda Louise White.
     Survivors include her husband, William J. White of Marks; one daughter, Karen Lynn White of Marks; two sisters, Margie Parish Rogers of Nashville, Tenn. and Frances Parish Lavander of Ashland, Ohio and one brother, Charles Ray Parish of Sherwood, Ark.


WHITESIDE, Robert Shannon "Shan"
    
SOUTHAVEN – Robert Shannon "Shan" Whiteside, 34, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services were Monday at Getwell Road Methodist Church in Southaven. Burial was in Starkville Memorial Gardens. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Whiteside, born May 9, 1971 in Tupelo to Robert Whiteside and the late Martha Aldy Whiteside, was a graduate of Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams and was a two sport all star for two years.
     He went on to play tennis at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, then on to Millsaps College where he played basketball. He was a graduate of Delta State University in Cleveland. Best known by many as "coach," he spent his adult life coaching high school basketball, most recently at Desoto Central High School in Southaven. Prior to Desoto Central, he was the basketball coach at Starkville Academy, Union High School, Oak Hill Academy in West Point and Central Holmes Academy in Lexington. He was a member of Getwell Road Methodist Church, where he was active in the young marrieds Sunday School Class and served on the administrative council.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Aldy Whiteside, and his grandfather, J.G. Aldy.
     Survivors include his wife, Gayle Betts Whiteside of Southaven; two daughters, Lindsey Whiteside and Leigh Allison Whiteside, both of Southaven; one son, Tyler Whiteside of Southaven; his parents, Reverend Robert "Bob" and Sallie Whiteside of Starkville; sister and brother-in-law Kris Whiteside and Thomas Wells of Tupelo; two brothers, Aron Whiteside of Houma, La. and Russ Whiteside of Senatobia; his grandparents, Smith and Vivian Whiteside of Tupelo and Mrs. J.G. Aldy of Columbus; one niece, Mackenzie Wells of Tupelo and one nephew, Wesley Wells of Tupelo.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.


WHITING, Charles E.
     MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Charles E. Whiting, 54, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
     Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Whiting was a member of Mt. Level M.B. Church and mechanic.
     Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Futrell and Malinda Whiting, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one son Charles Whiting Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Berdia Sanders of Indianapolis, Ind. and Linda Whiting of Senatobia and four brothers, Robert Whiting of Memphis, Tenn., John Whiting of Atlanta, Ga., Eugene Whiting of Horn Lake and William Wilbourn of Sardis.


WHITSELL, David
    
COURTLAND – David Whitsell, 73, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
     Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Allen Holliday will officiate. Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Truslow Cemetery in Askew. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Whitsell, born April 3, 1933, in Sarah to the late William Bailey and the late Ruth Houston Whitsell, was a member of the Batesville Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a member of the Batesville VFW, served in the U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints. He was retired from the parts department at Heafner Motor Company.
     Survivors include his wife, Jetty Thompson Whitsell of Courtland; two daughters, Gayle Whitsell Mason of Senatobia and Angie Whitsell Sutton of Courtland; one brother, Arley R. Whitsell of Springfield, Va. and four grandchildren, Will Sanders, Kori Ratcliffe, Colby Mason and Spencer Sutton.


WHITTEN, James G.
    
BATESVILLE – James G. Whitten, 75, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
     Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Whitten, born Dec. 29, 1930, to the late James Bedford "Buster" and the late Gertrude James Whitten, retired from Memphis Stone and Gravel. He was in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.

COURTLAND – Opal Amy Whitten, 90, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at her residence.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Whitten, born April 5, 1916, in Heber Springs, Ark. to the late Lewis and Ethel Cranford, was a member of Tocowa Baptist Church and a homemaker.
     She was preceded in death by her children, Gordon Whitten, Tony Whitten and Carolyn Stafford.
     Survivors include her husband, Emmitt G. Whitten of Courtland; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


WICKHAM, Mary Lou Anderson
    
BATESVILLE – Mary Lou Anderson Wickham, 83, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Beverly Health Care.
     Services were Monday, September 25, 2006, at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Pope. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Wickham, born May 24, 1923, in Pine Bluff, Ark. to the late Wesley and Gertrude Herring Anderson, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Myer Brothers Drug Company in Memphis.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bruce Wickham.
     Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Sullivan of Batesville, Mary Jean Edgar of Memphis, Sherry Wickham Hopkins of Pope and Donna Wickham McGee of Bartlett, Tenn.; one son, Dale "Buster" Wickham of Memphis; one brother, Morris Anderson of Batesville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


WILKINS, Henry Michael "Mike"
    
BATESVILLE – Henry Michael "Mike" Wilkins, 53, died Friday, April 28, 2006, at his residence.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rusty Fair will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Wilkins, born March 13, 1953, to the late Wayne Powell and Ethma Lucille Austin Wilkins, was the owner of W & W Electric Company of Batesville.
     Survivors include his wife, Sharon Denise Hudson Wilkins of Batesville; one daughter, Brittany Leigh Wilkins of Batesville; one son, Eric Michael Wilkins of Batesville; one sister, Sue Wilkins Garner of Jackson and two brothers, Ken Wilkins of of Oxford and Barry Wilkins of Jackson.

WILLIAMS, Bobbie Ann
    
CRENSHAW- Bobbie Ann Williams, 48, died Thursday, December 14, 2006, at her mother’s residence of natural causes.
     Services were Monday at Delta Burial Funeral Home. Burial was in New Heaven Cemetery. Delta Burial Funeral Home had charge.
     She was preceded in death by her father, Essie B. Williams; two brothers and two sisters.
     Survivors include: her mother, Dorothy Mae Williams of Crenshaw; six sisters, Maryana Spearman of Rockford, Ill., Bobbie Jean Williams, Ruthia Kelson and Christine Harrell, all of Crenshaw and Lovely C. McClain and Edith Mae McClain, both of Chicago, Ill. and four brothers, William Smith Sr. of Sledge, Roy Miller of Chicago, Ill., Jerry Williams of Memphis and Terry Williams of Tibbs.

COURTLAND – Danny Williams, 53, died Monday, September 25, 2006, at his residence.

     Williams, born, Aug. 7, 1953, in Heath, Ark. to the late Frank and Julia Pearson Williams, was a retired machine operator for the former Earth Grains of Memphis.
     Survivors include his wife, Karen LaRue Williams of Courtland; one daughter, Amanda Williams Ticer of Memphis; two step-sons, Chris Allison of Drummond, Tenn. and Josh Allison of Atoka, Tenn.; two sisters, Ellie Williams Long of Collierville, Tenn. and Judy Williams Lyles of Memphis; two brothers, Barry Williams of Memphis and Michael Williams of Independence and eight grandchildren.


WILLIAMS, Diane
     SENATOBIA – Diane Williams, 41, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at her residence.
     Services were Monday at Paradise M.B. Church. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
Williams was a homemaker.
     Survivors include: two daughters, Takeya Williams and Jasmine Williams, both of Senatobia; her parents, Jeraldine Williams and Charlie Williams, both of Senatobia; four sisters, Ruby Williams and Donna Branch, both of Senatobia; Janette Short of Kileen, Texas and Barbara Williams of Senatobia and five brothers, Gary Williams of Senatobia, Howard Williams of Sarah, Bobby Williams of Como, Steven Williams of Sandie and Charlie Williams Jr. of Memphis.


WILLIAMS, Mary Irene Trest
    
CLARKSDALE- Mary Irene Trest Williams, 96, died Monday, December 4, 2006, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
     Graveside services were Saturday at Marks Cemetery. Rev. John Parker officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Williams, born Oct. 16, 1910, in Lena to the late Lewis Edward and Nancy Ellen Ward Trest, was a clerk at Fred’s in Sledge. She was also a member of the Sledge Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Williams, and two children, Bonnie Kate Stampley and A.B. Williams Jr.
Survivors include: six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


WILLIAMS, Robert Lee
    
MEMPHIS- Robert Lee Williams, 58, died Tuesday, November 26, 2006, at The Med.
     Services are Saturday at noon at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como. Burial will be in Cistern Hill M.B. Church cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Williams was a member of Cistern Hill M.B. Church.
     Survivors include: one daughter, Angela Tabor of Sardis; one son, Kenny Williams of Sardis; six sisters, Johnnie M. Mitchell and Jannie M. McGhee, both of Memphis, Ada Burdette and Lizzie McClinton, both of Como, Rosie Cooper of Batesville and Mildren White of Memphis; one brother, Johnny Williams Jr. of Coldwater; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE –  Sue Manning Williams, 82, died Friday, November 10, 2006, at Tri – Lakes Medical Center.

     Williams, born June 18, 1924, in Hot Springs County, Ark. to the late Byron Lee and Cornelia Margaret Green Manning, was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville.
     Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Williams Russell and Tommie Sue Williams Heafner, both of Batesville; one son, Ronald Wayne Williams of Batesville; one sister, Nancy Manning Heathcock of Lake Jackson, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


WILSON, Billy Eugene
    
COLDWATER – Billy Eugene Wilson, 67, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Senatobia Hospital North Oak Regional.
     Services were Monday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joe Baroni officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Wilson, born April 30, 1938, in Panola County to the late Ira Wilson and the late Allene Jaco Wilson, was a retired production manager for American Container Corp. and a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Japan.
     He was preceded in death by Bobby Wilson, Pete Davis, Bud Davis and Frances Finn.
     Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Eva Lou Wilson of Coldwater; one son, Sammy J. Wilson of Hernando; one daughter, Nellie Willoughby of Senatobia; one brother, Eddie Davis Jr. of Sardis; two sisters, Mildred Young and Betty Brown, both of Sardis; four grandchildren, Sammy Wilson Jr., Taylor Wilson, Tabatha Moffatt and David Pinkerton, and one great-grandchild, Autumn Moffatt.
     Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.

BATESVILLE – Carolyn Brown Burk Wilson, 67, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at her residence.
     Services were Friday at Dickins Funeral Home. Clay Baker officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Wilson, born May 10, 1938, in Water Valley to the late Earl Brown and the late Eddie Kate Crouch Brown, was a teacher.
     Survivors include one son, Troy Burk of Ohio; two daughters, Cady Sexton of Troy, Ohio and Sue Nelson of Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


WILSON, James A. "Jimmy"
     HORN LAKE – James A. "Jimmy" Wilson, 59, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven.
Services were Saturday at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Crofford and Rev. Bobby Caples officiated. Burial was in Sardis Lake Church Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Wilson, born June 18, 1946, in Oxford to the late Archie Herman and the late Jessie Kate Waller Wilson, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horn Lake. He was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, and was a retired diesel mechanic for Tri Star Mack.
     Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue O’Quinn Wilson of Horn Lake; his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Wilson Lovell and Steven Lovell of Lake Cormorant; two brothers, George Wilson of Memphis and Glenn Wilson of Pleasant Grove and two grandchildren, Blake and Tori Lovell.


WILSON, James Edward
    
MARKS – James Edward Wilson, 82, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.
     Services were Saturday at West Marks Baptist Church in Marks. Rev. Tim Mims officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Wilson, born June 11, 1923, in Sardis, was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a Mason and a member of West Marks Baptist Church in Marks. He was also retired from Mississippi State Department of Motor Vehicles.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Frances "Fannie" Wilson.
     Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Montague of Marks and Stella McCain of Sardis; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  


WILSON, Vickie Louise
    
BATESVILLE – Vickie Louise Wilson, 47, died Friday, August 4, 2006, at Baptist Memorial of North Mississippi.
     Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in McIvor Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Wilson, born Dec. 5, 1958, in El Paso, Texas to Doris McMinn Wilson of Batesville and the late Edward Merrill Wilson, was a Baptist.
     Survivors, along with her mother, include her husband, George G. Draine of Batesville; two daughters, Maranda Wilson Keel and Melissa Nicole Wilson, both of Batesville; one son, Scott Weldon of Batesville; one sister, Sabrina Smith of Boone, N.C.; one brother, Wayne Wilson of Batesville and three grandchildren.


WOMBLE, Robert Lee "Johnny"
    
BATESVILLE – Robert Lee "Johnny" Womble, 95, died Sunday, November 12, 2006. at his residence.
     Services were Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. John Howell and Rev. Pat Ludlam officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Womble, born March 25, 1911, in Calhoun County, to the late John Manuel and Edna Sheffield Womble, was a farmer, cattleman and businessman. He was also a member of Crowder Baptist Church.
     He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Ward Womble.
     Survivors include four sons, James Robert Womble of Scobey, Fred Allen Womble of Batesville, Charlie Everett Womble of Lebanon, Tenn. and John Gilbert Womble of Starkville; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


WOODARD, Jewell
    
BATESVILLE – Jewell Woodard, 75, died Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Baptist Memorial in Oxford.
     Woodard, born May 1, 1930, in Cotton Plant to the late Oliver and Mary Maude Smith Fryar, was a homemaker.
     She was preceded in death by one son and her step-father, James Spears.
     Survivors include her husband, R.C. Woodard of Batesville; four daughters, Linda Sprouse, Patsy Dulin, Donna Tidwell, all of Batesville and Carolyn Shepard of Lake Charles, La.; one son, Jerry Bouchillon of Collierville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
     Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society


WOOD, John Leroy
    
MEMPHIS- John Leroy Wood, 81, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006. He was the step-father of Hal Ferrell of Batesville.
     Services were Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Burial was in McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel had charge.
     Wood, born May 16, 1924, in Texas, was retired from the Memphis Defense Depot with 37 years of Federal Service. He served in Europe with the 58th U.S. Army Quartermasters Corps during WWII. He was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church where he sang in the choir. He received his B.S. from Arkansas State University in 1949, and his M.A. from the University of Memphis in 1953. He was a longtime member of Toastmasters International and was active with the Eastern Star and a member of the White Station O.K. Houck Lodge #95. He was a Shriner with the Al Chymia Temple and was active in various units including the Camel Herders, Burn Hospital Transportation Unit, and the Chanters.
     Survivors, along with his step-son, include two sons, Nyle L. Wood of Knoxville and Larry W. Wood of Southaven; one step-daughter, Joyce Bryant of Spring, Texas; three grandsons; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.


WOODARD, James Dalton "Jimmy"
    
BATESVILLE – James Dalton "Jimmy" Woodard, 58, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Doug Pepper officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Woodard, born Oct. 25, 1947, to the late Johnnie Albert and the late Bernice Dalton Rowland Woodard in Memphis, was the shipping/receiving manager for Bandit Lures in Sardis. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
     He was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Woodard.
     Survivors include his wife Jo Ann Wilson Woodard of Batesville; one daughter Susan Woodard Morris of Batesville; one brother Johnny D. Woodard of Locust, N.C. and one grandchild.
     Memorials may be made to Cold Springs United Methodist Church.


WOODRUFF, Dorothy "Jeanie" Jean Merriman
    
WATER VALLEY – Dorothy "Jeanie" Jean Merriman Woodruff, 65, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at her residence.
     Services were Thursday at Ray Funeral Home. Rev. Ellsworth McCracken officiated. Burial was in New Cleveland Cemetery. Ray Funeral Home had charge.
     Woodruff was born April 7, 1941, in Sardis, to the late Adrian Wade Merriman and the late Hazel Irene Goodwin Merriman.
     Survivors include her husband, Bobby L. Woodruff of Water Valley; two sons, Joseph Lee Woodruff and James Clayton Woodruff, both of Water Valley; one sister, Joyce Marie Merriman of Sardis; two brothers, Billy Wade Merriman of Germantown, Tenn. and Robert Lee Merriman of Batesville and four grandchildren.
 


WOODS, Ozelle
     SARDIS – Ozelle Woods, 95, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
     Services were Saturday at Moore-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
     Woods, born Sept. 5, 1910, to the late Edgar and Addie Darby, was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Hudson Woods.
     Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Pettys of Sardis; one step-daughter, Mary Glenn Adams of Colorado; one brother, Leo Darby of Batesville; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.


WOOTEN, Sue Holden
    
BATESVILLE – Sue Holden Wooten, 55, died Sunday, August 6, 2006, at her residence.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at Batesville Church of Christ. Michael Bates will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Wooten, born Sept. 30, 1950, in Oxford to Howard J. Holden of Batesville and the late Opal Margerine Pope Holden, was a retired manager of Williams Department Store of Batesville. She was a member of Batesville Church of Christ where she was known as "Nana."
     Survivors, along with her father, include her husband, Roy Wooten Sr. of Batesville; two daughters, Amy Wooten Kerr of Henderson, Tenn. and Jennifer Wooten O’Neal of Modesto, Calif.; two sons, Roy Wooten Jr. of Marion, Ark. and Thomas Wooten of Bartlett, Tenn.; one brother, Richard Holden of Bartlett, Tenn. and six grandchildren.
     Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.


WRENN, Alyssa Ann
    
HORN LAKE – Alyssa Ann Wrenn; 16 hours and 43 minutes old, died Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Baptist Women’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services will be held Saturday, February 11, at 2 p.m. at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven.
     Survivors include her parents, Keith and Melissa Wrenn of Horn Lake; her aunts, Melanie Wrenn and Ginny Wrenn both of Southaven, and one uncle, Will Moak of Sardis.
     Survivors also include her grandparents, Steve and Teresa Wrenn of Southaven and Denise Moak of Sardis, and great-grandparents Neil and Anne Wrenn of Grenada, Frank and Josie Cannon of Covington, and Ella Jean Herring of Sardis.


WRIGHT, D’Niya Lashelle
    
BATESVILLE- D’Niya Lashelle Wright was stillborn on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Graveside services are today at 10 a.m. at Armstrong Street Church of God. Rev. Terry Townsend will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Survivors include: her parents, Demetric Wright and Lameisha Townsend Wright, both of Batesville; three brothers, Demetric Wright II, DeAndre Wright and D’Untae Wright, all of Batesville; two sisters, D’Mia Wright and Demetria Wright, both of Batesville; grandparents, Willie Townsend and Addie Wright, both of Batesville and great-grandparents, Marie Townsend of Tupelo, Margaret Middleton and Melissa Wright, both of Batesville.

BATESVILLE – William Wright, 74, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at his residence.
     Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland. Rev. Larry Key will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be today 10 a.m.  – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Wright, born to the late Robert Wright and the late Eva Holmes, was a retired farmer and a member of Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church.
     Survivors include his wife, Jearline Wright of Batesville; four daughters, Georgia Walls of Pope, Bonnie Wright of Batesville, May Shannon and Jackie Wright, both of Courtland; five sons, Ray Ellis, James Wright, Michael Wright, Rufus Wright, all of Batesville, Jessie Wright of Courtland; two sisters, Annie Chapman and Malissia Wright, both of Batesville; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
