City Court Report

Judge Bill McKenzie issued a warrant for the arrest of a Jackson man during Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday.

Robert Chaney of 645 Beaver Brook Dr., Jackson, failed to appear for charges of disorderly conduct-failure to comply, carrying a concealed weapon, disturbance of a business and public drunk.

A trial date was set for Preston Gleeton Jr. of 420 E.Q. Gleeton, Sardis, after he entered a not guilty plea to DUI (second) refusal and careless driving. He entered a guilty plea to driving while license suspended.
 
Daniel Gray of 778 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, paid a fine of $773 before court for simple possession of controlled substance, resisting arrest and improper tag.

Cases dismissed
David Heffner of 643-B Hudson Rd., Sardis, had a domestic violence-simple assault charge dismissed after affiant Bobbieanne Heffner failed to appear to prosecute.

William Bell of 2045 Hughes Rd., Courtland, had a simple assault by threat charge dismissed after affiant Brittany Shields failed to appear to prosecute.

Natalie Flippin of 1924 CR 94, Water Valley, had a careless driving charge dismissed after Judge McKenzie heard testimony.

Tommy Wright of 139-A Todd Rd., Batesville, opted to enter the city’s work release program for 25 days in lieu of paying a $1,007 fine after entering a guilty plea to DUI and no driver’s license.
 
The city’s work release program is an option for defendants who cannot pay their fines.

Contempt of court
Robert Barksdale of 42 Greenbriar, Courtland, is charged with contempt of court for old fines of $1,906 due since January of 2005. The case was continued.

Stephen McComb of 206 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to speeding and no driver’s license, but entered a not guilty plea to contempt of court-old fines. The contempt charges are under investigation and the case will be continued.

Jason McClay of 304 Hubbard Rd., Courtland, enrolled in the city’s work release program for 21 days in lieu of paying $837 for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since September of 2004 and driving while license suspended.

Dineka D. Wilkins of 714 W. Pearl St., Sardis, was ordered to pay her fines of $1,123 in 30 days for contempt of court, driving while license suspended, expired tag and no proof of insurance. If she does not pay her fines in full she will serve 90 days in the county jail.

Michael Wright of 324 Patton Lane, Batesville, enrolled in the city work release program for 12 days in lieu of paying $480 for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since June of 2004.

Crystal Griffin of 475 Greenbriar, Courtland, enrolled in the city’s work release program for 11 days in lieu of paying $415 for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since July of 2004.

Jayson Dishmon of 428 Taylor St., Como, had contempt of court-old fines of $765 that have been due since January of 2005. He is a state inmate awaiting transport to Parchman. Judge McKenzie sentenced him to 90 days in the county jail while he waits for his transfer. This way his fines can be served out.

Other cases
Cornelius Green of 425 Washington #61, Clarksdale, had a bond of $250,000 reduced to $10,000 on charges of receiving stolen property and failure to yield to blue lights.

LaHarrison Johnson of 209 Cherry St., Clarksdale, had a bond of $250,000 reduced to $25,000 on charges of aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and failure to yield to blue lights.

Lavanders Muskin of 425 Washington 29, Clarksdale, had a bond of $250,000 reduced to $25,000 on charges of aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and failure to yield to blue lights.
