ECHOLS, Verneice
     MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Verneice Echols, 80, formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services were Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
     Echols was a retired school teacher.
     Survivors include two daughters, Heidi Echols of Batesville and Elizabeth Clay of Aberdeen; one son James Echols of St. Louis, Mo. and nine grandchildren.


ELLIS, G.B.
     BATESVILLE- G.B. Ellis, 56, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart disease.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Hope M.B. Church. Burial is in New Hope Church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home has charge.
Survivors include one sister Ruby Ellis Lester of Batesville and five brothers, Ulye Ellis, Jimmie Ellis and Sidney Ellis, all of Batesville, Howard Ellis and Larry Ellis, both of Milwaukee, Wis.
    


ELLIS, Jimmie D. "Hick"
     BATESVILLE – Jimmie D. "Hick" Ellis, 71, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were Sunday at New Hope M.B. Church. Burial was in New Hope M.B. Church Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
     Ellis was a retired laborer.
     Survivors include two daughters, Bernadette Johnson of Courtland and Pamela Lee of Batesville; three sons, James C. Johnson and Willie D. Johnson, both of Courtland and Darin Ellis of Batesville; four brothers, Ulyeess Ellis and Sidney Ellis, both of Batesville, Howard Ellis and Larry Ellis, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

EUBANKS, Marjorie Bumgardner
    
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Marjorie Bumgardner Eubanks, 79, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, August 22, 2005, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Graveside services were Wednesday at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Russell Fletcher officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Eubanks, born June 11, 1929, to the late Walter Bumgardner and the late Buelah Mills Bumgardner, was a retired accountant.
     Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ann Holst and Sandra Barksdale, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother Paul Bumgardner of Athens, Ala.; two sisters, Lucille Downer of Oxford and Doris Vaughn of Mt. Olivet; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


EVANS, Albert Harvey
    
BATESVILLE – Albert Harvey Evans, 69, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
     Services are today at 1 p.m. at the Batesville Intermediate School Auditorium. Rev. W.L. Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Evans, born Dec. 2, 1935, in Monticello to the late Lit Parker Evans Sr. and the late Myrtle Baylis Evans, was a graduate of Alcorn State University and The University of Mississippi. He was a retired educator and park ranger and a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church. He was also a trustee member and in the choir.
     Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. Evans of Batesville; one son, Drexter Evans of Ridgeland; two daughters, D’Juanna Evans Henley of Cordova, Tenn. and Krysti Evans Hudson of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Myrtle Stewart of New Haven, Conn. and Gloria Faye Lewis of Monticello; five brothers, Rev. Danny O. Evans, Shirley Joe Evans and David O. Evans, all of Monticello, Lit Parker Evans Jr. of Cleveland and Walter Lyn Evans of Kissimmee, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.


EVERETT, Bonnie S.
     BATESVILLE- Bonnie S. Everett, 80, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare of heart failure.
     Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Robert Self officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Everett, born March 11, 1924, in Vanndale, Ark., to the late Phillip J. and Minnie Latta Stroupe, was a homemaker, bookkeeper and a member of First Baptist Church in Batesville.
     Survivors include one daughter Bonnie Everett Kairit of Batesville; one sister Lena Stroupe Pitts of Batesville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
