Green Wave to Play in Bayou Scrimmage

The North Delta football team will get to knock around some other teams as it kicks off the preseason.

The Green Wave will travel to Bayou Academy in Cleveland for a scrimmage Friday, Aug. 8.

The team will play five 20-minute quarters and will be broken up into team 1 and team 2.

Team 1 will play Canton at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. team 2 will play Bayou and followed by a 5:30 p.m. game with North Sunflower.

Team 1 will end the evening against Bayou at 6 p.m. and Lee, Ark. at 7 p.m.

Admission to the game is free.

On Thursday, Aug. 14 the Green Wave will take part in the Strider jamboree in Charleston.

North Delta will play Tunica at 7:30 p.m. and Marshall at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at the school for $6.

The public can meet the team and cheerleaders Thursday, Aug. 7, during the annual open house and Meet the Wave night. The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 8.

The festivities begin with a dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Open house will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Meet the Wave begins at 7:30 p.m. New student orientation is from 1 to 3 p.m.

North Delta will open the season at home against Rossville Academy Friday, Aug. 22.

The Green Wave is the MPSA AA runner-up state champions and will be trying for a fourth straight trip to the championship game this season.
