Fairbee, Jontavious Ja’Von
Jontavious Ja’Von Fairbee was stillborn Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

A graveside service was held at Eureka cemetary at 1 p.m.

Fancher, Robert T. "Bob"
Robert T. "Bob" Fancher, 65, of Darling, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the Quitman County Hospital.

Services were Thursday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Marks Cemetery. Rev. Mike Smithey officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Fancher, born Aug. 5, 1937, to the late W.C. "Bill" Fancher and the late Quitman Harper Fancher, was a retired farmer, a member of West Marks Baptist Church, Mississippi National Guard, a member of Children of the American Revolution and an avid Ole Miss fan.

Memorials may be made to West Marks Baptist Church, LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center or The American Heart Association.


Faulkner, Edward Bowden "Sonny"
Edward Bowden "Sonny" Faulkner, 72, of Sardis, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Faulkner, born July 15, 1931, to the late John Edward Faulkner and the late Emma Bowden Faulkner, was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter Beth Daniels of Coldwater; one brother James Milton Faulkner of Batesville and one grandchild.


Faulkner, James Ella
James Ella Faulkner, 80, of Senatobia, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.

Services were Saturday at Springfield M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Meyers Sr. officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Faulkner, born Oct. 25, 1923, to the late James Jones and the late Amanda Small Jones, was a housewife. She was also a member of Springfield M.B. Church.

Survivors include her husband Eugene Faulkner of Senatobia; three daughters, Rose Ann Jennings, Dorothy Bradley and Patricia Faulkner, all of Senatobia; nine sons, Glenn Faulkner, Lonnie Faulkner, Leon Faulkner, Stanley Faulkner, Eugene Faulkner Jr. and Wayne Faulkner, all of Senatobia, Jerry Faulkner and Johnny Faulkner, both of Como and Willie Faulkner of Sardis; one sister Jeppie Lyles of Chicago, Ill.; four brothers, Tommy Jones and Slayton Jones of Senatobia, Modie Jones of Memphis and Willie Jones of Valdosta, Ga.; 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.


Fenger, Mary Sue Sneed
Mary Sue Sneed Fenger, 81, of Oxford, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Southaven.

Services were Sunday at Oxford-University United Methodist Church. Burial was at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Rev. Margorie Buckley and Rev. Martin Case officiated. Waller Funeral Home had charge.

Fenger was a retired secretary in the Admissions Office charged with Veterans Affairs at the University of Mississippi, a member of Oxford University United Methodist Church, in the Pilot Club and Bridge Club, she enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening and Ole Miss sports.

She is preceded in death by her husband George Alfred Fenger Sr.

Survivors include one daughter Cheryl Fenger Beene of Olive Branch; one son George Alfred "Al" Fenger Jr. of Oxford; one brother Payne Sneed of Oxford and two grandchildren.

Ferguson, Irene Dickins
Irene Dickins Ferguson, 96, of Batesville, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial will be at Batesville-Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. John Howell, Jr. will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Ferguson, born Dec. 3, 1906, to the late David Butts Dickins and the late Georgia Frances Bobo Dickins, was the retired co-owner of Dickins Funeral Home. Mrs. Ferguson had been active in many community and public service organizations over the years including the Batesville Woman’s Club where she was a 50-year member and past district president and recording secretary of the Mississippi Federation of Woman’s Clubs. She served on the official board of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member and was past president of United Methodist Women and served on the Advisory Board of the Methodist Children’s Home in Jackson.

The late Mrs. Ferguson served in many capacities with patriotic associations during her lifetime.

They included: Daughters of the American Revolution-serving as State Chaplain, State Treasurer, Delta District Director, Regent of James Gilliam Chapter, State Committee Chairman and Corridor Hostess at DAR Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.; Daughters of the American Colonist-Organizing Regent of John Buckner Chapter, Second Vice Regent, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, State Society Librarian; The Huguenot Society of the Founders of Monakin in the Colony of Virginia-Branch Treasurer; Dames of the Court of Honor-Charter member of Mississippi Branch, first and second vice-president; Colonial Dames XVII Century-State Chaplain, Second Vice President and Chaplain of Elizabeth Tilley Chapter. She was also a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, Magna Charta Dames and Barons and The Order of Scottish Dames.

Survivors include one daughter Georgane Ferguson Love of Hattiesburg; one son Dan L. Ferguson, Jr. of Batesville; three grandchildren, Dale Kelly Love, Jr. of Lake Charles, La., Elizabeth Irene Ferguson of New Orleans, La. and Rev. Dana Ferguson Myers of Oak Park, Ill., and three great-grandchildren, Meagan Allie Love, Daniel Louis Meyers and Taylor Lamar Meyers.

Ferrell, Van Legge
Van Legge Ferrell, 79, of Sardis, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis of kidney failure.

Graveside services were Sunday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Kirt Germany officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Ferrell, born Dec. 24, 1923, to the late Burford and the late Mable Legge Ferrell, was retired from Red Mill Lumber Company. He was a member of the Baptist Church, American Legion and was a veteran of WWII.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Sladek of Kingsly, Mich.; two sons, Stephen Ferrell of Zeeland, Mich., and Randy Ferrell of Saginaw, Mich.; and four grandchildren.


Ferrell, William Joseph "Billy Joe"
William Joseph "Billy Joe" Ferrell, 72, of Sardis, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Sardis Church of Christ. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Cemetery near Batesville. Hal Johnson officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Ferrell, born Nov. 15, 1930, to the late Burford Ferrell and the late Mable Legge Ferrell, was a member of the Sardis Church of Christ, an Elder and Treasurer and song leader of the church, president of the Lions Club and was in the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife Bernice Daws Ferrell of Sardis; two daughters, Susan Campbell of Senatobia and Joanna Bryant of Hernando; one son William C. Ferrell of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister Mildred Barnowski of Batesville; one brother Van Ferrell of Sardis and six grandchildren.


Fisher, Edna Elizabeth Erwin
Edna Elizabeth Erwin Fisher, 84, of Charleston died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston of heart failure.

Funeral services were Thursday at First Baptist Church in Charleston. Burial was at Magnolia Gardens. Rev. Mark Vincent and Rev. Truman Scarbrough officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Fisher, born May 8, 1918, to the late Charlie and Abbie Jones Erwin, was a retired salesperson and a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston.

Survivors include her husband Hubert R. Fisher of Charleston, and one sister Blanch Erwin Ellet of Charleston.


Fisk, James E.
James E. Fisk, 54, of Duck Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in Durant of natural causes.

Services are today at New Hope Church in Coffeeville at 3 p.m. Burial is at New Hope Cemetery. Rev. James Burrell will officiate. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge.

Fisk, born May 3, 1949, to the late Clayton and Ruby Rogers Fisk, was raised in a Baptist Church, was an outdoor sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Ann Dillana of Burienette, Texas, Kathy Marie Williams of Tupelo and Tammy Fisk of Calhoun City; his sisters and brothers, Betty Byford, Bobbie Ellis, JoAnn Moore and Joyce Naramore, all of Grenada, Mary Martin, Cecil Fisk and Billy Fisk, all of Greenwood, Carolyn Hutchin, Nale Martin and Ester Rose, both of Batesville, Alice Pettway and Gary Fisk, both of Fortworth, Texas, Clayton Fisk of Winona and David Fisk of Nesbit; four granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.

Anterious Cortez Flowers died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Tri Lakes Medical Center.

Memorial services were Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Rock Hill Cemetery.

Flowers, born July 26, 2003, was the son of Jennifer Barksdale and Anthony Flowers.
Survivors, in addition to his parents include one sister Jakeysha Flowers of Batesville; one brother Anthony Flowers Jr. of Batesville; his
grandparents Cynthia and Sammy Armstead of Batesville and Brenda and Terry Robisson of Batesville and great-grandparent Cora Barksdale, all of Batesville.


Flowers, Harry Lee
Harry Lee Flowers, 59, of Batesville, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Steve Nichols officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Flowers, born May 9, 1943, to the late Dennis Alton and Minnie Lee Wray Flowers, was a retired automobile mechanic and a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran.

Survivors include his wife Loretta Montgomery Flowers of Batesville; three daughters, Karen Shelton of Batesville, Deborah Reeves of Portland, Ore., and Nicole Wiechert of Memphis; his mother Minnie W. Flowers of Tennessee; one son Timmy Cannon of Collierville, Tenn.; one sister Helen Morris of Tennessee and five grandchildren.


Fondren, Hattie Gertrude Johnson
Hattie Gertrude Johnson Fondren, 85, of Sardis died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi Oxford.

Funeral services were Sunday at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Walter Newson Jr. officiated. Burial was at Mt. Gillion Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Fondren, born Jan. 25, 1918, to the late Lee Andrew Johnson and the late Julia Mackey, was a housewife and a member of Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors include her husband Lewis Fondren of Sardis; two daughters, Clara Black of Batesville and Jean Alstoro of Wheatley Heights, N.Y.; four sons, L.P. Fondren of Sardis, Alexander Fondren of Courtland, Bobby W. Fondren and George Lee Fondren, both of Batesville; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.


Forbes, Lora Mae
Lora Mae Forbes, 81, of Batesville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Diane Lemon will officiate.

Forbes, born Oct. 26, 1922, to the late Clem and the late Annie Elizabeth Keith Hodo, was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Forbes Smith, Betty Lou Forbes Wilkerson and Janice Forbes, all of Batesville, Brenda Fay Forbes Hawkins and Glenda Kay Forbes Mullins, both of Courtland; two sons, Herbert Forbes of Batesville and Mike J. Forbes of Pope; two sisters, Mattie Sue Beckwith of Greenville and Inez Mooneyhan of Woodland, Calif.; one brother Billy Hodo of Waynesville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Ford, James Leslie
James Leslie Ford, 77, of Water Valley, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.

Services were Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Union Cemetery in Sardis. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Ford, born Dec. 4, 1925, to the late Dudley and the late Christi Mae Allen Ford, was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, retired from Ford Motor Company, was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a Deacon of the Oakland Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Johnson Ford of Water Valley; three daughters, Sherry Ford Jones of Orlando, Fla., Carolyn Ford Sarlow of Pam Bay, Fla. and Beth Ford Crist of Amherst, Ohio; three sons, Jimmy L. Ford of Water Valley, Larry G. Ford of Austin, Texas and Charles Leslie Ford of Santee, Calif.; four sisters, Katherine Ford Wood and Juanita Ford Busby, both of Ackerman, Lucy Ford Stokes of Eugene, Ore. and Lois Ford Rayford of Olive Branch; two brothers, Irby Ford of Hernando and Kenneth Ford Ackerman; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.


Ford, Johnny Lloyd
Johnny Lloyd Ford, 83, of Batesville, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Interment will be at Clear Creek Cemetery in Oxford. Rev. Gearld Walker will officiate services. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville had charge of arrangements.

Floyd, born Jan. 7, 1920 in Oakman, Ala. to the late Newt and Verna Smith Ford, was a retired auto metal worker and a member of Goodhope Baptist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include hid wife, Jean Horne Ford of Batesville; five daughters, Amy Ford Hersey of Birmingham, Ala., Donna Rutherford Speakman of Somerville, Ala., Dorothy Rutherford Coleman of Greenville, Ala., Emma Joyce Ford and Patsy Ford Brown, both of Anderson, SC; four sons, Jimmy Lloyd Ford and William Roy Ford, and William Edward Ford, all of Anderson, SC, and Toby Ford of Philadelphia, Penn.; two sisters, Mary Ford Dollar of Olive Branch, and Hazel Ford Gentry, of Bedford, OH; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


Ford, Willie X
Willie X Ford, 82, of Senatobia, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at his residence.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. Paradise M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial is at National V.A. Cemetery in West Tennessee. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Ford was in construction and a member of Paradise M.B. Church.

Survivors include his wife Pearlie B. Ford; two brothers, Robert Ford of Memphis and Ashley Ford of Chicago, Ill.


Foughty, Donna Jo
Donna Jo Foughty, 46, of Independence, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at North Oak Medical Center in Senatobia.

Services were Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Independence. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery. C.O. Pate Funeral Home had charge.

Foughty, born to William Embrey of Independence, was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the BYW.

Survivors include her father William Embry of Independence; her husband Bob Foughty of Independence; one daughter Courtney Brett Foughty of Independence; one son James Michael Davis of Independence and one sister Wanda Underwood of Pope.

Memorials may be sent to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.


Fowler, Rupert M.
Rupert M. Fowler, 79, of Courtland, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Eureka Private Cemetery in Courtland. Rev. Clay Baker and Rev. Todd Lemon officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Fowler, born April 14, 1924, to the late Joan Angelo and the late Nettie Hyland Fowler, was a retired plumber and Army WWII Veteran and a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland.

Survivors include his wife Bernice Williamson Fowler of Courtland; two sons, Donnie Fowler and Larry Fowler, both of Courtland; two sisters, Osie Fay Fowler White of Nacogdoches, Texas and Irene Fowler Porter of Courtland; four brothers, Douglas Fowler and Coleman Fowler, both of Courtland, Harry Fowler of Walnut and Billy Ray Fowler of Conroe, Texas; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be sent to Eureka Private Cemetery in Courtland.


Francis, Joseph Raymond
Joseph Raymond Francis, 73, of Clarksdale, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Clarksdale Nursing Center of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale. Interment was at Oakridge Cemetery. Father Kent Bowlds officiated services. Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Francis, born July 21, 1929, in Clarksdale, was a retired farmer and salesman for Arcadian Farm Supply. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus, and also a member of American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Furini Francis of Clarksdale; three daughters, Rita Harden of Atlanta, Ga.; Vicky Rybolt and Lisa Williams both of Clarksdale; two sons, John Francis of Batesville, and Keith Francis of Clarksdale; and seven grandchildren.


Fretland, Dorothy
Dorothy Fretland, 86, of Williston, N.D., died Monday, September 22, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.

Services are today at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston, N.D. Burial is at Hillside Memory Gardens in Williston, N.D. Rev. Morris Kirchhof will officiate. Fulkerson Funeral Home had charge.

Fretland, born Feb. 7, 1917, to the the late Washington Simpson and the late Julia Dixie "Arnold" Goodnight, was raised and educated in Sardis, she worked in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital and was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sig; one son, Dennis Fretland; two daughters, Wanda McNary and Linda Goedhart; a granddaughter Trina Fretland and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Fretland of Williston, N.D. and Edward Webb of Battleground, Wash.; four daughters, Pamela Workman, Julia Huravitch, both of Williston, N.D., Frances Page of Camas, Wash. and Jean Hammack of Tell City, Ind.; one brother Boyd Goodnight of Batesville; four sisters, Bobbie Leeton and Lillian Prince, both of Batesville, Lorene Abbey of Jackson and Minnie Lee Ales of El Cahon, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Fry, Steven Morgan
Steven Morgan Fry, 50, of Como died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Funeral services were Friday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery near Como. Rev. Troy Defer officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Fry, born Aug. 8, 1952, to the late Delbert Fry and Betty Ricks Fry, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a Vietnam Veteran.

Survivors include his mother Betty R. Fry of Como; one sister Pamela Fry Smith of Memphis and two brothers, Mike Fry of Como and Donny Fry of Memphis.
